I've just read Tom Dart's article in todays Times, that our visit to Manchester on Sunday will likely see Torres back on the bench!
If this is true, then in my mind it will be madness. He has improved his performance in each game he has played this season and last night was very good indeed.
His confidence is improving with every game and not playing him will seriously damage this progress .
Please prove Mr Dart wrong please AVB!

Did he offer who would be starting instead? Being in the US I haven't got a subscription and so can't read the website.

gefinley-- Tom Dart is a sports journalist working for The Times, a paper that tends to provide reliable stories. However this mornings mulling over the events of last night tends to be an opinion, that cant be based on any fact, other than Drogba may well be fit enough to start on Sunday. AVB will have to decide between the muscle of Drogba and the guile of Torres. Nice problem to have , dont you think?

So was he working off the assumption that Drogba is guaranteed to be cleared? I thought he was still questionable to be healthy. If he was just saying a healthy Drogba would start over Torres, fair enough. I can see that argument.

As an aside, newspapers requiring subscriptions for their websites is annoying. Yeah, yeah, business, money, blah, blah. Still a pain.

Boas would be an utter idiot to not play him after putting in a decent shift last night. Wouldn't like to see Anelka against united on his own so for me it's Torres or Lukaku, Sturridge has been playing too well on the right to put anyone else there and Lukaku is too young and premier league quenched to be thrown in at the deep end starting at OT. No, definetely Torres to start.

Was just thinking, imagine if Drogba was playing - those long shots against De Gea = no chance.

    In all honesty...apprehensive.

It's another away game and our away record is pretty poor still. Especially if we concede first. Although the Stoke game we played a lot better than we normally do when we are behind.

Fairy muff, Spuds haven't looked great at all this season, one good game at tynecastle and that's about it. I predict 1-0/2-1 to you lot!

Drogs have you seen the torres interview or anyone else seen it? Just watched it and how pathetic are the press, i'm sure they write there **** before they see the actual evidence - He didn't once imply any player from chelsea was old or slow all he said when asked about Mata signing was along these lines " Yes mata is a very good player and along with sturridge now his back from a ban it will add a lot more attacking quality that chelsea lacked " How is that implying anyones old or slow lol all his saying is its adding some much more attacking threat that we needed which is spot on, take out sturridge and mata and were left with malouda kalou and anelka lol, **** knows how they come to think that means his saying our midfield is slow and old...

I haven't mate, just saw an Article about the issue and AVB's post match interview the other night and how he said it's all been resolved which clearly shows Torres didn't do anything wrong. Blown completely out of proportion, do you have a link for where you saw it pal?

Bloody hell, stupid how the press can manipulate and mash people's words. They did it after the Stoke game if you remember, with AVB stating there was pushing in both boxes and the press took that statement and made it into "this league is far too physical and needs to change" we really do have awful press at the best of times.

I know mate, and your right it always seems to be about us that gets the negativity, if we get a controversial penalty it's the biggest headline of the day, if united get one it goes unnoticed it's pathetic, even the sun's headline " Golden Oldie Giggs " Nothing about the draw vs benfica, even yesterday we won 2-0 and torres starred getting 2 assists and yet all they still go on about is " Torres still unable to find the net ", the press just hate us, **** em anyway there all ****ers and liars

Yep, we've more or less been written off already <doh>. People seem to forget it's 4 games into the PL, United have one of the youngest squads they've ever had meaning come January they'll all be exhausted with these CL games every two weeks, Carling cup and FA Cup. I prefer to be underdogs as it were anyway, let them ignore us - it can only be a good thing in terms of pressure. I watched United start to finish and Giggs didn't even perform very well, class goal but nonetheless he wasn't brilliant. Looking forward to Sunday though, I just hope the last game we had at OT doesn't repeat itself with cheatarito scoring almost instantly <laugh>. I'm sure it won't...
