Though the referee was poor, the lack of any goal threat for 80 odd minutes from the Blues was more worrying. Too many long balls against tall defenders and we looked a bit better when playing on the deck. I suppose Gaz has been robbed of two strikers, so we had no-one on the bench to turn things around. Did not see the tackle for the sending off, but I thought the first yellow for Dunne was a mite harsh. Having missed the past two seasons, I find that so far this season I've not been convinced by Lewis and Wood but I bow to more experienced Blues watchers if they are just going through a bad patch. I thought we looked a bit better when Max K came onâ¦.and I suppose he HAS scored two goals after all. Burton looked the far better team or did we just make them look like the better team?
honestly lewis and wood are two of our best players, its jut when they go through bad patches (I missed Saturday so cant comment!) they look a bit like headless chickens with the amount of effort they put in! silly from dunne, he has been very disappointing this season but from what I hear the player we really missed was deano.... hes had his critcs (myself definatly included!) but he is the cog that makes the team work going forward and the sooner we can get him back the better
I think the person they could have really done with on Saturday was Spring. The midfield were run ragged by Burtons and were chasing shadows for most of the game. I think Spring (if he played as he did towards the end of last season) would have been a calming influence and started passing the ball about rather than lumping it up the wings. Wood seemed to play a lot better on Saturday once Dunne went off. He started taking people on and passing to feet rather than passing it down the line and hoping someone would get it. Lets hope theres some improvement tonight. Maybe a change of personnel for the paint pot trophy.
Thanks comrades, I'll reserve judgement on messrs Lewis and Wood then. Being stretched by struggling teams is a bit worrying though...
