Would £7m over 10 years be enough for the Valley?

In the present economic climate and FFP every penny counts.

Given that our losses per season are between 5m and 7m, it would be a bit of a drop in the ocean, but I suppose every penny is a plus. Derby, and I say this with all due respect, have a fairly short history at their current home. They were at the Baseball ground for longer, so maybe it's less of a wrench to change the name when it's all fairly new anyway. We've been at the Vallay for a long time, and so my feelings on tacking on a sponsor s name to the front of the ground would be not good, while rubbing out the word Valley completely to call it the (for example) Vodaphone Stadium, would be outrage.
There again, theer are voices muttering seriously about the lunacy of moving out of the Valley completely, besides which a mere name change is fairly small beans.

Just a thought. When you change the name of the club (Hull Tigers), the club kit (Cardiff) and the home ground (Charlton, Wimbledon and a lot of non league clubs) what as fans are we actually following? Just adds fuel to the ideas of the anti-football brigada that football fans are deranged.

I doubt that Vodafone would be tempted with the Vodafone Valley, not being outclassed in size by the O2 arena just down the road. However sponsorship by a Kent brewer with the "Bishops Finger Valley" might have some appeal or indeed the only large London Brewer with the London Pride Valley might not be that unappealing if the price were right.

Maidstone, don't push it! I let the Ian Dowie Valley comment go, but even a saint has a limit!

We could go into a joint venture with Alexandra Palace and call it Ally Pally Valley. Or name it after our very own poster- Volly Valley.

Seriously though, I wouldn't be happy with a bookies/payday loan firm buying the naming rights.

Makes me wonder why Curbs doesn't have a stand named after him? Has it ever been considered?

Not sure but I think you have to die before they name a stand after you.

They should definitely rename the North Stand the Alan Pardew Stand as it is always full of **** on match days (normally pigeon's...)
