When singing the praises of Ryan Sesegnon, Dennis Adeniran and the others from our Academy that are proving themselves at the moment, we often forget the people that helped them on their way. There's a really good interview with Huw Jennings, instrumental for so much since he joined us in 2009, in the local paper. One extract says a lot about his philosophy and the reason for his undoubted success in bring forward so many Academy stars, “There are two critical factors here. Number one, believing in what they are capable of as opposed to what they can't do. If you focus on the things they can do and work with them over those things then the weaknesses that are perceived often evaporate as you focus on what they can do. I think the other element to that is time and you need to give them the right amount of time. You can't keep a player forever if they're not performing but if you give them time then they'll reward you for that. One of the biggest challenges at the moment with young players particularly those aged around 15, 16 when you're talking about their longer term future is people around them only want to talk about the money. I want to talk about the time. The time is far more important and valuable than the money.” Link to the full interview: http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spor...fulham-academy-director-huw-jennings-11845284
