I do not think there has been much talk about this new competition on here but I think there should be. It's an interesting set up and it has replaced the reserve leagues, the homes games have been played at the Emirates which is a clear change from the old reserve games. Getting our young players used to that sort of environment can only be an advantage. We played Bolton last week and won 3-1 despite being down to 10 men for most of the games. The stand out player was Serge Gnabry who is one of our brightest talents and I think he will be pushing for a spot in the Carling Cup team. There is also Chuba Akpom who is also highly rated and the link play between him and Gnabry was one of the highlights against Bolton. You are allowed three over aged players in this league but it's mainly set up to get the best out of the youngsters. I am going to watch match between Arsenal and Blackburn at the Emirates this week and I am looking forward to seeing the likes of Gnabry and Akpom at the Emirates. Should I be looking out for any other player?
I heard Kristoffer Olsson is one too look out for he went with the squad to Malaysia and played for the reserves. To be fair not really following the youth setup but he is apparently one to look out for also can't remember the name but the kid we signed from Dortmund.
Thomas Eisfeld looks like a player, and has a nack for a goal from midfield, thats pretty hard to teach, you either have it or you dont, and I recon this kid has got it
Brilliant all round And as you mention, really good experience for the U21s to play in front of a decent sized crowd at Emirates. It can only be a good thing for their confidence. Also as you mention, the higher competitive nature of the league will prepare the players for the step up to the first team. When do the games take place, are they all midweek KO's ?
My first ever game at Highbury was a reserve game.It was a few years ago and we played Reading reserves and won 6-1.I sat in the upper tier of the east stand
Is that some kind of prehistoric bartering currency? like swapping a dinosaur tooth for piece of loin cloth ?
Going to the Blackburn game. Hopefully get to see akpom, gnabry and Olsson. Bellerin is someone worth keeping an eye on too and Meade whilst really short is pretty good and capable at left back. Toral is obviously another one butnim keen to see more of Henderson. There probably would be more coming to these games but it seems as if all seats arent available.
