I have mixed feelings about this guy. He costs us so often with his laziness in tracking back, and often doesn't pick up on the man he's supposed to be marking, leaving Janmaat exposed. His final ball was shocking most of last game, however he was immense for the final 20-25 minutes, and seems to have these sparks where he dribbles like ****ing Messi and skins 2 players and plays through a decent ball. He has the ability to make some fantastic runs, and he has stamina right throughout the game. He has been a tank in some of our games, but doesn't seem to want to change in terms of defensive work rate, and is inconsistent when it comes to his final ball. Is he worth keeping, or should we get proper winger?
Sissoko gets a bad rap, and much harsher criticism than anybody else, because, quite simply, he's the most talented and people expect the most out of him. He's unfortunate he's surrounded by some woeful players, but I think it smacks of a bad attitude he just coasts game to game at their level, rather than dragging them closer to his, but he's french so...
Hadn't thought about that ...good point Combined with him only being a beast a maximum of 4 games a season, a liability defensively when having (yet another) Can't be arsed day, doing a reverse Arry redknapp and tapping up CL clubs. The guy has everything, but just ain't worth it to me
Yeah for that sort of money we could get another Thauvin People who don't watch him play each week think he's better than he is and people who do regularly watch him seem to use that as a reason to under-rate him. I think we're unlikely to replace him with someone better, we could cash in on him but he is as good a player as we can sign at the moment and a better idea would be to continue using the money from the Premiership to improve the team and force him to raise his game. I genuinely think he will.
Its interesting that he is always the one the pundits highlight as being the star performer in those rare moments where we do play well. I dont think its an attitude problem - he is just mentally not the strongest. You can see it in the way he plays - he is never going to control a game as he doesnt seem to be that aware of whats going on around him but we need his pace and power. He will probably go down blind alleys 9 times out of 10 but we arent going to get better for the money we are willing to pay. I say keep him.
It still baffles me why we have Sissoko and Wijnaldum out on the wings. They are both attacking central players so play them there for crying out loud. Thauvin right and Perez left. We could with a better DCM to back them up but Colback or Anita will have to do for now.
Sissoko is a good player, but not a worldy.... Why do people expect anything more..... We paid £1.5 million for him. In that respect hes a bargain compared to other flops we have had.... He is a good player but he is a bit dumb... quite often gets lazy but all round hes a good player for us...... I think we have some bigger issues to address in the near future and he aint one of them. He is not good enough for top four or a top euro club and from what I read he seems to have this attitude of playing well for the cameras? The cameras are rolling 24-7, scouts watch players week in week out. man clubs record the matches and watch them back...... This idea players play well for the cameras is proper bullshit....
We should call Sissoko Bagpuss! When Sissoko falls asleep all his friends fall asleep too, but when Sissoko wakes up (and puts in a shift) all his friends do that too! As much as we need a new CB and LB, we need to pitch in and buy Sissoko an alarm clock for everytime he falls asleep mid game. We could easily replace the average player who strolls around the park a lot of the time, but it would be very difficult to replace the player who gets us ticking when he is on his game. What we need to fix the Sissoko problem isn't to sell him, but to have more players give him the absolute rollicking that Janmaat gave him on Sunday when he wasn't alert to what was happening on the pitch. It certainly seemed to work!
He is a pretty crucial outlet for us at the moment going forward and as a result has helped to take a bit of the heat off the decence at times. I've not usually been his biggest fan though. He's got ability but this club thrives on positivity and drowns in negativity. We need players that work hard and play with a smile on their face and I am yet to see him crack any sort of smile.
Could he not be fitted with an electronic device and a member of the coaching staff has the controls that gives him a mild electric shock?
He's playing for a move in big games unfortunately he is good when he chooses to be. We cannot sell him in January imo it would be foolish given he's getting us almost all our assists in open play
Sell the ****. He has two good games per season and strolls around the rest of the time doing absolutely **** all.
