Ok, everyone talks about their favourite corners of the F1 circuits. I thought it might be an interesting idea to see which corners are the most popular and see if we can bolt them all together to create a mega track! So, to start off with, what's your favourite pit straight on the current F1 calender? Mine is probably Brazil because it ends up just as one massive sweep from the 12th/13th corner all the way to the 1st corner.
Brazil for its elevation, too. Is someone going to graphically bolt it all together and draw a picture? I also like Malaysia because the final corner's so tight, Canada for the Wall of Champions, Hungary for the Wall of Victims and turn 1, and Belgium for its Raikkonen Route.
Its fairly recent to being nearly a current track FUJI SPEEDWAY!!!! otherwise yep, you hit the nail with Brazil but FUJI SPEEDWAY!!!!
Are you intending favourite corners in any order or favourite turn 1 followed by favourite turn 2 etc
I'd probably go with Sao Paulo on this. Few 'straights' present a real driver challenge but the entry from the final corner at the bottom of the hill is vital here (as Hamilton knows only too well). On top of that, the almost blind entry to Turn 1 makes it one of the most interesting on the calendar. Other considerations are that the racing line crosses the pit entry quite dramatically; the narrow pit lane itself; and the whole slippery nature of that downhill section which begins soon after the start/finish line - particularly when that notorious river runs across Turn 2 in a downpour. Oh, and another thing: from one year to the next, its ever-evolving, often bumpy surface makes Sao Paulo is one of the most unpredictable of all; and once again, this is especially so at the end of the pit straight. Regretfully, on balance and regardless of loyalty; it's difficult to put up a genuine case for Silverstone when compared to this…
I'd love to break with convention... so I'm going to. I'll go for Monaco since it's not really as straight at all.
hmm, the sheer speed of Monza wins it for me, going into turkey turn 14, that leads you down through Eau Rouge taking you into turns 1 - 5 at Suzuka,
I'm torn between Montreal and Sao Paulo, cause Montreal has that interesting kink into the first corner and the pit exit, and Sao Paulo as the elevation changes and it's curved nature make it magnificent. Probably a mix between the two somehow. A pit straight that has all those elevation changes, with a pit exit rejoining onto turn 2
Right. Brazil was the clear winner for Westy's circuit Pit Straight. Now, let's move on to Turn 1 ! I'd suggest each part of this track must be voted for within a clearly defined, finite time. Clearly this should be Westy's decision as it is surely the Boogaloo Circuit.
