(While we´re in the mood for comparisons)

The balance seems just about right
In the twenty-five up for the fight,
    Two keepers, then eight
    To defend the estate
Eleven mid, and then four to bite

It´ll always be one of those things
A bit of roundabout and a few swings,
    You win a bit here
    And maybe lose there
    When strengthening with new signings

But comparing them, if that we can
This squad with last year´s, man to man,
    It seems clear to me
    We´re considerably
Better equipped to fulfil our plan

I think a few weak links have gone
While some who just didn´t belong,
    In the higher realm
    Are now at the helm
Of new clubs after moving on

    For Whitbread, Ayala and Ward
    Read Bassong and Turner aboard,
    That´s a plus to me
    If injury-free
They stay, unlike those three´s record

And I´d say Garrido for Drury
    And Whittaker, although the jury´s,
    Still out on that one
    Will both get a run
And blend their skills with fight and fury

    But the acquisition of three
    New midfielders shows Hughton C,
    Has his own idea
    Abundantly clear
Of where he wants our strength to be

    So competition´s now red hot
In the engine room of our lot,
    Which only bodes well
    For the coming spell
    And keeping a coveted spot

And true to form, of the four goals
Scored so far this year by our souls,
    Seventy-five per cent
    Of them have been sent
From those playing the midfield roles

And although I´m sure some would say
Our strike force is weaker today,
    Than one year ago
    I´m not sure, you know
Vaughan just never was fit to play

Which left just Wilby in the frame
Where today we have Martin and Kane,
    So on balance there
    I´d say we compare
At least as well, for every game. OTBC

Hi RBF, looking at our squad I feel tingles of excitement, I think we're well prepared for another year of mid-table obscurity under the "Leeds effect!"

Hi RBF - Yes, wee may well be weaker in terms of pure strike force, but I've been saying for weeks now that the midfeld wil score their fair share of goals - I'm waiting for the day when one of Johnson's thunderbolts is on target and takes the back of the net out!! <ok>

Agreed JR, also looking forward to seeing just what Butterfield has to offer.
