Email From Ian Taylor to fans this morning I just wanted to drop you a brief email in the wake of the incident that occurred shortly after the full-time whistle at Turf Moor I have spoken to Clint about this and - whilst we won't be publically saying anything more to stoke the fires further - I am keen to let you know what happened Clint was heading over towards the tunnel when he was verbally abused by two QPR fans who had made their way towards the front of the stand with a child The language used by them was colourful to say the least and Clint was simply encouraging them to calm down and not swear in front of the youngster I have had a couple of emails from supporters backing this up and I have no reason to think it was anything more than this The press have blown this out of proportion, as to be expected given our current predicament, but I don't think it's wise we comment further However, please feel free to pass this on to your fellow supporters / MB users etc Hopefully it can be put to bed now and we can all focus on an upturn in fortunes ASAP
That's pretty much what they showed on MOTD2. It looked like Fer was about to climb into the stand and Barton calmed him. Hill was saying something (no reason to doubt Hill on this one). No allegations of fistycuffs and didn't look like there'd be any opportunity for it to happen. Then again, why report the truth when there's papers to sell?
I don't know if anyone noticed but about 20 minutes way through the first half Clint was taking a throw in and looked into the crowd a bit astonished i.e. face said " I can't believe I just heard that" at first I thought it was Burnley fans as looking at a stream I could not tell where the R's fans were. Anyway after seeing it on MOTD is was the same area that Hill was remonstrating at so I am thinking maybe he was taking a lot of verbal abuse in the first half as he was playing close to these fans??
Hill is one of the most popular players in the squad and I reckon he'll get a huge welcome on Saturday. I'm glad the club have made the statement and that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.
I remember seeing on TV that Hill was going to take a throw in during them game and told someone in the audience in just about the same place as the later incident to calm down. I wonder if it could have been the same person.
He doesn't strike me as the overreacting type so wouldn't surprise me if someone had taken in a few too many pints before the game and then been constantly in the players' ears consistently.
