Apart from being incredibly stubborn, is he totally failed to anticipate the effect the loss of Cesc and Samir would have on the balance of the team.

I think he thought Gervinho would be a good replacement for Nasri but that has yet to be proved (and may never be) and Wilshere would step in to Cesc's boots formidably.

This as we know is also yet to be proven and Arteta is struggling to fill the gap.

How could he have got this so dramatically wrong?

At least now we know that he is not infallible and he doesn't 'know 'it all.

We have to hope that he can rescue the situation but it is not looking promising.

The next 7 PL games are crucial for our season

    Sunderland
    Stoke
    Chelsea
    WBA
    Norwich
    Fulham
    Wigan

We need to win at least 5 of these if we are to get back on track.

Do you think he can do it and how?

  4. I think he was resigned to losing Cesc Tuffers. Remember that summer of the Barca shirt campaign at the World Cup? I believe I read around that time or so that Arsene managed then to persuade Cesc to stay with us for one more year. However he was hoping to encourage Nasri to stay, perhaps even renew at some point. But then as Nasri was adamant he was leaving the board said to Wenger that it was better to take the money and Arsene agreed. That of course was pretty late in the transfer window.

You are right to question how he could have got it so wrong as not to have planned for this. SAF did his transfer business early and had the off season to get the team to gel whereas Arsene was floundering around and not coming to a decision. He didn't and should have utilised this time to bring in the players we needed. At the start of summer he was talking about the need for defenders and yet only until TV was injured did he finally buy. Everyone makes mistakes including SAF but measures are then put into place to rectify them. Arsene however seems to be only on one track. And that approach doesn't seem to be working. Like it or not, in one way or another he has allowed the team to slide for a number of years. The meltdown of last season was pitiful but it was salvageable this season. Instead the downward spiral continues and because of the inability to turn things around for me therefore, the time has come for Arsene to voluntarily step aside. This season is almost lost and under him it certainly will be.

He reminds me of a ships captain on the high-seas when told it is holed below decks saying ' relax, we'll run aground soon and all will be well'.

Seriously though, I think we are being killed by our own leader. Only he doesn't know he's doing it.

If you don't want to contribute to the thread you don't have to. Must you make every thread descend to a slanging match ? Argue against what he wrote like an adult or shut up.

It is the OP's right to be negative, who are you to tell him otherwise !! If you don't like his comments you are not being forced to read them. Stop making digs at people who have a different opinion to yours !

You accused the OP of moaning.

Argue against what he says and leave the rest of it out. You don't just offer your opinions, you and your cronies jump on anyone who's opinion differs to yours. In this instance the OP is moaning, in others it is something else.

I don't agree with lots of things people say but I argue against what they say without mudslinging. I mudsling when people get personal. The only tosser here is you because you have your little crony gang like the pathetic chump you are - Billy No Mates in the real world I bet. Its about time some people learned to think for themselves rather than following others ...

****ing knock it on the head will ya !!!!! <grr>

People can tell others if they think they are moaning if they want.

It's the endless pouring over it accusing people of attacking each other that is causing the problem.
