Hey All, Long term reader, not much of a poster (that's to change as a new year's resolution). Recently read this......http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-transfer-window-2015-the-anatomy-of-the-deal It seems that our 'football board' should be well in the know if a player wants to come here or not well before we stick a bid in. If any of the current so called bids are true then maybe chumpley needs to read the above link before sticking a bid in. Or is there a 'football transfers for dummies' book he should be reading!!
Good read, And l really like the quote that the transfer market is not like "Pinning the tail on the donkey", shame no one told Penfold and co not to buy the donkey in the first place.
A good read, Kath (only tea lady I'm familiar with); makes you wonder, as usual, what NUFC do. As is the norm, we cite Thauvin, a player everybody knew didn't want to come, yet we pushed, pushed, signed stupid cheques and - lo and behold - a sub-standard footballer who isn't interested turns up.
Makes you wonder if the so called football board are following the entrenched football etiquette?....i would say not and that they are following the Ca$hely way of business by trying to throw £££'s to try and secure a business investment.
Well, we've always - particularly under Ashley - been excruciatingly secretive with our business, mainly because we seek to exploit contract loopholes and don't want better clubs (and there's about 200 of them) finding out, 'cos they'd inevitably offer better prospects, wages and working conditions. We then changed a bit and threw tonnes of money after anyone old Graham decided was worth it. That's worked out well...... We're now back with the football board scratching their heads (no wonder there's not much hair left among any of 'em). Next up? Shelvey. Feck it, let's buy someone English, that will change everything surely? But if he's not tempted by the Sports Direct mug, Henri Saivet, whatever the cost. Quite how either will score goals is beyond my limited footballing nous.
Now it appears we will sign Saivet first, then Shelvey. Do I live in an alternative universe where the one club I support has to be the stupidest, most confounding club around? We would then have Gini, Sissoko, Anita, Tiote, Colback, Saivet and Shelvey. Yet still line up with Dummett and Mitrovic. Someone help me out here.
Er which one of these ( Saivet/Shelvey) is going to score the 20 or so goals then? If we only sign one player it must be a striker and a proven one at that. When is Remy supposed to deem fit to give us an answer? It all feels a bit desperate atm, perhaps it's all going swimmingly well behind the scenes, and we will be astounded for the right reasons when our signings are announced. Or not as the case maybe.
Remy will have already given Penfold an answer. That answer will be passed to us after the season ticket renewals have come in.
From press rumours Remy is wanted by a number of clubs with Spurs showing some interest now as well, he can pick and choose but I doubt at this point Chelsea would let him go unless they can bring in another quality striker.
Nobody you can afford or attract . Think you need to go and look at the goal scoring charts for last 3 seasons as you're clearly completely detached from modern football. BTW The most Remy has ever scored in a season in this country is 14 in all comps. Even he doesn't meet your ludicrous demands. Goals need to come from everywhere. That's exactly the reason both our teams are where we are. We don't score enough in general, dreaming of the next Alan Shearer to land on your lap is cuckoo It is literally impossible for Newcastle to have the window you demand. 20 or so goals
Great avatar. I have to admit to swiping my hand across the monitor screen to get rid of that fly. And you know what they say about flies hanging around...
