toro rosso scored the most points this weekend behind the top 4 yet qualified in 16th and 18th, only ahead of the three new-ish teams, lotus, hrt and virgin. with the exception of spa, they seem much more closer to pace on race day than when they are qualifying. example jaime qualified 24th in canada, finished 8th qualified 18th in valencia, finished 8th buemi qualified 18th in Hungary, finished 8th thoughts?
They have good race pace, and have taken the luck theyve had. They set up for the race so they struggle in Quali.
Jaime went into an exhaustive analysis on the F1 Forum of what has been going on at Toro Rosso for them to improve; God, that man can talk! Nevertheless, he failed to really explain why they're not there in quail but identified tyre management as a key improvement, not just from his driving but also set-up, geometry, suspension changes from the team. I have noticed that he's now frequently making one less stop than the others, whereas he said that before he was regularly making more stops than his rivals. Bruno Senna said yesterday that the Toro Rosso has great straight-line speed and that made Buemi difficult to overtake. The Toro Rosso's speed was also evident from seeing Alguersuari overtaking. I'd love to know why they don't show the same pace over one lap but if they keep finishing in the points, that's more important.
