Some absolute belters on there. Worth the 11 minutes!
all great goals although I'd pay no attention to the rankings, Gerrards first goal on the video is better than his second, Ibrahimavic's second is nowhere near amongst the top 50 (though his 3rd is brilliant). The winner is clearly a flukey accidental goal, as good as it looks IMO the best goal in the world should be something that was meant to happen, a moment of sheer class where the very finest technique is pulled off to a tee rather than a very skewed cross which happens to lob the keeper and curl into the net. Very nice goals though and nice to see Hull City on the video
Agree with Bob on the last goal. The video was probably made a while ago but I'd have Nick Powell's goal in the League 2 play-off final in my top 10 goals. I do go on about it a fair bit but it really was an amazing goal.
All these insane flicks, 40 yard screamers and ridiculous athleticism, you'd really have that in the top ten? Good goal but hell, I could probably name a good 100 that beat it.
Go for it. ;-) I do agree though, it's not the greatest. I always remember a few goals, someone doing a looping back header. Dicanios scissory volley sort of thing. Cantona chip.
I still say the Cantona chip was overrated. I mean, it was a damn good finish but it seems to have gone down as one of the best goals in history.
I've always thought (begrudgingly) that Maradona's 2nd against England in World Cup 86 was the best goal I ever saw live.
I thought it was one of the best goals I've ever seen, the way it came out of absolutely nothing with his back to goal and within two touches it was in the top corner. It was very similar to the Henry one which was about 3rd in the video. The turn bought him loads of space which he had no right to and then to hit it like he did with his weaker foot was insane. I don't think all the flicked ones are that good by the way, some of them looked quite lucky in fact, such as the Van Der Vaart one.
trouble with these things is that they focus on internationals and euro cup games and the last 20 years.
For sheer class, I'd have the Bergkamp flick and the Zidane volley as the best goals in there. All down to opinion though!
For technique I would have thought Geo's against Arsenal or Tottenham would have been in there; I think the one against Arsenal was technically a lot better than Glen Johnson's.
Read this before watching the vid and therefore was most surprised not to see Antonio Doncel vs. Wigan in there
slightly off topic, but reckon the gb omission seems a bit unfair still....
