  1. Anyone on here subscribe to this...?

I used to enjoy reading a lot of his stuff, he creates such a strong argument and uses statistics in a appropriate manner to back up his theories too. However, since he got his own website and started charging a subscription fee I obviously can't access any of his articles any more. He occasionally puts 'freebies' up but I'm buggered if I am paying £3.50 a month to read another fans views...<ok>

Totally agree that his arguments are strong,he really knows his stuff and is very in-depth
with his opinions.I always keep an eye on his site and have considered subscribing but
    havn't so far.
I dunno, there's so much footy related stuff out there these days it's hard to justify the
cost in a way,but I do find his writing compelling.

sometimes read sometimes think he's a complete messer.

Honestly there is an element of chummy chummy when it comes to his stuff, like when he did the transfer stuff he linked to another website that had totally inaccurate LFC transfer fees but guess what there was a link to his book on sale.. in other words you scratch mine, i scratch yours.

Anyway. when rafa was there he was on the lfc website and gaining unprecedented access so his stuff was obviously better, if unapologetic rafa worship. He was dropped by the website and he did his own. He was anti hodgson staunchly and that was fair enough.

All in all, it aint worth subscribing to..... it support the guy in his work so fair enough but i don't see the content he used to make being worth £3.50 a month, especially when the stats could be easily poked full of holes.

    just my opinion.

I read the free stuff but thats about it. There are better LFC columnists out there that write stuff which can be read for free - that's not saying he is bad... he's just not £3.50 a months worth of good

He was unaplogetic because he supported Rafa only after the research. It wasn't worship, it was credit where it was due.

Just when I thought, "No muppet has mentioned stats being worthless yet" there you are. The funny thing is the anti-statisticians never have an argument backed up with anything other than they "watched the game", as if statisticians don't. They know that a high pass completion obviously means you passed it sideways and backwards. They don't need to prove it, they saw it in the game. Nobody ever saw Lucas play a forward pass in five years at Anfield, apparently. And as I've said before, passing sideways to a teammate after winning possession back - which is Lucas's job - is A Good Stat. But does Adrian Durham look at the nature of the passes in a high pass rate? No.

Gareth Barry outscored Alonso by two to one but Alonso had pinpoint passing. How can you tell whether Barry or Alonso would've won more games for us? Without some in-depth statistical analysis you wouldn't even get started. You'd simply drop to your knees and suck off Alonso like the sissyboy you really are.

I remember a journo saying in a stay-behind chat once Rafa took out a whole load of data on zonal and man-to-man, not to prove zonal is better but to show there's **** all difference and it'd really down to a manager's preference. Did you spot that "just watching the game?" Andy Gray didn't and he watched the set pieces back in slo-mo on his giant X Box.

It's what you do with stats and how you read them which matters, as you'll discover if you read Freakonomics. If you take one stat and draw conclusions you're a muppet. But if you have no stats you're not even a muppet, you're just a woolen sleeve on a bloke who used to work on the Muppet Show.
