Right so we all know I like many was too impressed with the decision to appoint Claudio Ranieri but I didn't say I would be fully behind after he was appointed so with the international break its a good point to stop and look how he has started. Transfer's I'm still very skeptical about Yohan Benalouane. He seems very rash and haven't been too impressed with him cameos, he is even more of a bombscare then Sol Bamba was. Kante and Inler look great additions to the squad and making £4M on David Nugent and getting rid of Konchesky shows he is doing quite well so far He hasn't "Tinkered" much at all since he came here. Unchanged for the first 3 games and making 1 change against Bournemouth which was a strange one but I'm sure he had a reason The style of play hasn't changed too much and Ranieri has spoke about wanting to change things but says they have to be done over time and not immediately which is good management IMO Results wise we can't fault him. 2 wins and 2 draws and we could have won the 2 drawn games So far I can't fault what Ranieri has done. Only down side is we are abit leaky at the back atm
.... would agree with most of it ... I'm not quite so down on Benny as you are ... he brings much needed pace and he is strong and aggressive ... Calum Wilson tried to con a penalty from him (quite cleverly) by stepping across him before going to ground .. which the ref saw through thankfully ... but I was impressed that he didn't dive-in (like the Bournemouth lad did for our pen) but instead just stayed strong on his feet (until Wilson's con brought them both down) ... so for me I'm happy with all the additions so far .... Ranieri surprised (indeed dismayed) me with his first competitive line-up ... but he got it spot on and I also thought he made the right substitutions and at the right time for each ... similarly I was surprised with the starting line-up for Bournemouth but I think it's potential effectiveness was undermined with the early (and to me purposeful) clattering of Mahrez ... that said we could easily have lost that game but showed commendable fighting spirit and resilience to come away with the point ... Bournemouth will ruffle feathers (at their place particularly) this season ... This is one of the best starts I have witnessed in my years watching ... unbeaten in pre-season ... comfortably through potential banana skin in Capital One Cup - which I feel demonstrates how the depth and quality of the squad has changed - remember Shrewsbury only last season?) and unbeaten after 4 Prem league games and sitting in the top 4 ffs! ... still tempted to pinch myself ... Hopefully we come through the internationals without injuries, resist offers for our best players (which I'm convinced we will do - the TV money for surviving will far outweigh any money we might get for any of our individual players) and perhaps even bring in another one or two ... Great time to be a Leicester City fan ... ...
He gave away a free kick on the edge of the box a few mins before that. He did a similar thing at West Ham aswell. I don't think we has a centre half who isn't strong and aggressive. Huth, Morgan and Wasilewski are hardly soft!
He is quick and could be a good asset our backline but he needs to less rash, 15 yellows and 2 reds last season tells it own story and I worry that at his age he isn't going to change too much now
... fair points ... but Robert Huth's card record is undoubtedly worse ... indeed he should probably have walked for the strong arm to Ming's face on Saturday (look what Affelay went for) ... players do change ... it's a case of having to ... even Barton's disciplinary record has improved ...
Benny doesn't look great but i get what Ranieri was saying about systems - i can see him slotting into a back 3 but he isnt a RB from what i can see
As a supporter of the decision initially, i still feel its still a bit too early to judge him, hes done well sofar to avoid defeat though and credit to him for keeping up the momentum with fast paced play. I think we had to start better than last season due to form and an "easier" set of fixtures, so im not going to go overboard yet. As long as we don't slump for 2/3 of the season this year and can stay consistent, then i will give him all the credit in the world. Good thing this year is that we have complete competition around the pitch for places, which is why (as some said already) we could actually have a good cup run with players pushing for first team action.
Were not judging him completely just on how he has started. The start was always going to be important and how he does in the transfer market
Can't complain too much about the start tbh, being 6 points off relegation after 4 games is pretty good going! I get what people say about Benny being a loose cannon, but so was Wasyl when he arrived, need to give him time to adapt and let the coaching staff to work on him.
