Seriously, I can't see him wanting to go back to Chelsea yet again, certainly not as long as Mourinho's there. He'd be behind Ivanovic for the next 5 years or so. Plus having the game time he's getting with us is doing his England prospects no harm at all. Sign him up Les!
Nice article. At the moment, to paraphrase triumph and disaster, I'm treating good and bad rumours as the same imposters. Things out of my control will or will not happen. If this one happens I'll be mightily pleased, because he's shown he's the best English LB in the country, at the moment.
Yes you're right he is. I was confused because he has played at right back. They've also got Felipe Luis of course.
Have to be honest, when we first signed him on loan, I was not at all excited by the move but he has been quite superb and a major reason for our success this season. Desperately want us to sign him up when the time comes, even at the slightly high pre-agreed fee? Luke who?
£10m for a young English premier league player. I think that's a snip in today's looney climate Dell Boy.
Yep, fair comment about the price lads. Remember thinking £55,000 was a bit pricey for Ron Davies? Think I must be a bit tight?
I still think 10m is steep for a left back. But yeah, he's playing well and seems to bring a lot to the club off the pitch in terms of having a good attitude and being well-spoken and all that. I suspect there could be more upheaval this summer, so Bertrand would bring some stability as well as send a message (if it still needs to be sent) about ambition. Plus it is helpful to have an English player if they are actually up to snuff to meet domestic requirements. I am a little more concerned about the wages. We will have to increase the wage budget this summer almost certainly, but we still want to keep them under control. If Bertrand gets 60k a week, how much will everyone else want?
I'd pay 10m for him, but I'd think someone with a year left on his contract who's surplus to requirements would be cheaper. It's not as if we're title rivals...
