Bowyer won't have liked being mugged off to the player either...it sounds as if he had persuaded Joe Mason to get over the line. How can any half serious owner think that 3 strikers - two of whom might generously be described as crocks - will get you promotion?
If Lee Bowyer has finally had enough of Duchatelet that is welcome news indeed. From interviews and articles I have had the impression that Bowyer's support for RD has been unwavering, if understated. And of course, never likely to be reciprocated. If LB himself persuaded Mason to join Charlton only to have Duchatelet kill the move, Bowyer must be furious.
Bodes badly for the already fragile dressing room atmosphere, and therefore for the rest of the season.
What's the weather over there like this time of the year? I have never been to Malta but heard good reports.
Thanks Dicky, having not been before how long would you recommend staying out there for? Plus the best time to travel.
They are averaging 3k advertised gates, the next home gate shall be very disappointing if it does not hit 10k. They were getting way past this before the boycott kicked in. Saturday should see them bring about 700 which I imagine will also see an away victory based on the euphoria of the Oystons going, coupled with the run Blackpool are on at the moment.
Here's why I don't think Roland wants to sell: I've changed my mind from believing he's acting out of spite, I now believe he's gone back to his ambition of proving that he can run a football club at at profit. Having made economies in the club which have halved the losses (while reducing us to a skeleton club), I am informed by a reliable source (Royston) that more cuts are on the way. The fact that he quoted £70m to a potential buyer shows a hostile attitude to real buyers, so I don't believe he wants to sell, what ever he or his mouthpiece says. He's a megalomaniac who only employs sycophants who tell him what he wants to hear, and put their own job before the welfare of Charlton, and so the information he gets tells him that his plan is working. He is absolutely loaded, and so can afford to finance his mad scheme for some time, meanwhile sits back, waiting for either a windfall from a gullible buyer, or for his grand plan to start to work. win-win as he sees it.
He will cut the costs dramatically at the end of the season. Gone will be high earners Vetokele, Reeves, Marshall, Fosu. He will sell Taylor, especially after his outburst. We will bring in a number of free transfer signings and five loans. Plus youngsters. Nothing will be spent on transfer fees. We will become a middle to lower Division one Club with gates averaging 7 to 10 thousand. We need RD out of our Club ASAP, but not to be replaced by the Aussie Consortium.
