Although that was the penultimate game of that season, it was the last of a series of games that we won under Hughes that eventually secured out survival that season.

Of course we would all know that it was Cisse who put the ball away but I was curious to reflect on the quality of the other players in that team as compared to today's team.

    Kenny

    Onuoha Anton F Hill Taiwo

    Barton Derry (SWP) Buzsaky(Boothroyd) Mackie

    Adel

    OBZ (Cisse)

    We played a 4:4:1:1.

I think my overall reflection is how hard the current PL has become!! Of that 2012 team the only ones I'd want playing for QPR today are Barton, Buzsaky (had to love the guy so likely a sentimental response!), Taiwo and Adel. Maybe Cisse??

We seem to have improved the quality of players generally - Austin, Fer, Sandro, Isla, Vargas etc but it just is not working out.

Maybe a win (even if unlikely) against Sunderland tonight will herald another amazing run that will secure survival. We can only hope!

That would be good with another win Tuesday would be 6 points. :)

Ha! But you know what I mean of course. Getting excited at the prospect.

You can't put a value on team spirit.

We gave up the chance to sign Taiwo so we could get Fabio on loan... Sigh

Taiwo was great but hindsight is a wonderful tool of course.

I don't think going for a relatively cheap signing who had proven himself already over a Man United kid on loan needed a lot of hindsight.

    Unless you're Mark Hughes.

Looking through that team there were players who would fight for the badge...Mackie, Derry, Buzasky, Hill, Zamora and Kenny. They are sadly missed. Wouldn't say we have no one who fights for the team now, but not that core group spread across the pitch.

Wasn't Taiwo holding out for 90K a week or something crazy?

    Nah. He had SOUL.

But by the salaries given that summer it would have been a cheeky but not outrageous ask.

I love Taiwo and would have him back in a heartbeat, but even I know he wasn't that good, just great entertainment.

Interesting thoughts and agree with your team assessment. Buzz was a top bloke, lived local to me and saw him out a number of times. Always happy to speak, loved the club and certainly not your typical flashy prem footballer image. He actually spoke quite highly of Hughes and his methods.

Shame about Taiwo, would have loved to take him on if only for his awesome shot!
