I was discussing our current team with my 15 year old son after the FA Cup debacle against Reading, he is obviously not old enough to remember a worse City team than the current incumbents, i found myself then trying to wrack my brains as to what era we had a worse team than this lot, by my reckoning it had to be the mid to late 80's before Perry, Blake and Stant stood to. Any thoughts.
Individually we have reasonably decent players - arguably far better than many we have had in the past especially in the period between 1985 and 2000. However, as a team they do not function and we all know who is to blame for that.
exactly nin, current lot are not playing as a team, or more likely being told to play like there are at present, if that is the case then in my eyes they are the worse team in my eyes since the dross of the mid to late 80's.
To me its like they are playing without direction. They are told where to stand but do little more than that. Turner has a stab at organising the defence but when he went off on Saturday they fell apart. I can't tell if Slade tries to communicate with the team during the game as I sit right across the pitch from him but there is little obvious evidence of this. We are in dire need of a leader on the park as we certainly don't have one off it.
