Took nigh on 4 months for my flat to sell, even longer for the purchase, god knows the twists and turns for a multi million pound business.

almost fell through at the 11th hour too, most stressful day I’ve ever had.

Are you saying they didnt take spoil to seaham docks by unmanned trucks pulled by a cable? Because they certainly did, the railway line went parralel to Cottages Road, and people would jump on the trucks for a ride, this poor lad fell off and lost an arm and a leg

I lived in No 13 Parkside crescent when I was a lad we all used it to get down to the harbour crossings.

    Love stories like this.

I was born in bred in silksworth, then moved to Ryhope and now settled in Seaham. Pit villages the lot of them :emoticon-0102-bigsm

There’s something you can’t quite put your finger on in these villages that make them special.

Aye true enough, can’t get my head around why a bloke of his calibre can’t get his head around that for the sake of some inexpensive competent staff to run a club shop and ticket office we are making it difficult for fans to buy tickets and merchandise.
Dogs in the streets can see it but our COO can’t.

I used to drive coal trains in and out of Seaham. Used to see them just walking about nicking coal. I think they used to get call the Malvern Crescsnt Coal Company.

Used to do the shale as well. Seaham down to Seabanks. Used to separate it down there and sell it back to coal board I was told. Don't know if true.

Mate, most on here take the info shared by the likes of yourself, @Wheatsheaf, @Prehab26, @Bob the Mackem (and apologies to any others I’ve inadvertently missed) in the same good faith that it’s shared in.
Things change in life, most know that so no need to beat yourself up about it.
    Onwards and upwards.

I worked at Dawdon as a weighman on both the road and the rail sides and one shift started at midnight taking the various belt readings for the day's production then walking down in the pitch black to post them in the offices, typically 1-2am in the morning. There'd be lads diving about in the shadows when they heard someone coming in case I was security but when they realised it was just me (or one of the other weighman depending on shifts) they'd come over for a bit crack on. They were all sound, just helping themselves to a bit here and there to make ends meet.

This is a great thread about the future, isn't it . . . . always 'to the point' and accurate :emoticon-0136-giggl

It's what helps to make this a jolly good community place to visit :emoticon-0100-smile

It really is . . . . nobody being vilified for 'going off track' and lots of fun being had :emoticon-0148-yes:

Bloody love it me. I missed all this being born in ‘77 but remember me nana still had a roaring fire and coal delivered.

Me dad was briefly a sparky at one of the pits but it mustn’t have paid well as he didn’t last long :emoticon-0102-bigsm
