Things that's been said regarding the academy, scouting, paying players large bonuses for success rather than a large wage bill and so on is the thing that's been missing from this club for God knows how long - basically the foundations that KLD is starting to put into place. Yeah you can throw money at things to get some kind of success but we've been there and found out that if 1 thing goes tits up, it all comes crashing down. Let KLD start slowly with this, yeah we'd all like to get out of this tin pot league in June but if we don't, I think the club is looking to be in safe hands, not just to get us promoted to actually do something that'll have us talking about it with more affection than we had when we talk about the Reid years

Though it’s probably true what you say, the state of play says it may not be possible for some to get better wages than we offer elsewhere. It’s unlikely League One clubs will do, so they may pick a league one club with the best chance of promotion, which may be us next year (may not like). Some of the better ones may go up a level but I’m not entirely convinced we’ll have that many who are wanted. Maybe Hume and 09 but maybe not even them.

The salary cap proposals for the Championship are likely to fall apart as at least half of the teams are against it following a letter to the EFL from some of the clubs against it (Brentford, Norwich & Bournemouth). One of the main reasons cited is one of the financial people at one of the clubs listed 30 ways round the cap which basically rendered it useless. One of these was paying an inflated transfer fee to the club selling the player who in turn passed it on to the player as a 'termination bonus', in reality it subsidises the lesser wages from the buying club. Other reasons are cited too which are similar to our salary cap about the teams coming down having a massive advantage and will probably go straight back up therefore making the league uncompetitive.
Once that is thrown out it will make it easier for clubs in our league to cite that as the reasons are the same.

It’s not much of a socialist experiment mate. What kind of socialism would limit player earnings meaning the business leaders have more in the bank? It’s not a socialist experiment, it’s just a simplistic a bad idea. The thing for me is that the business is football and we can’t pay better footballers to join us. There are good bits like the growth of under 21 players but that wouldn’t need it to be made equal via the salary cap just do it through the % arrangement.

Surely if its not waiting on EFL, we would see a change with companies House, which we haven't? Hope you're right though

The salary cap is illegal and unfair, it will be challenged and kicked into touch, the sooner the better

That's a good point. I think (but not certain, others will know more) that major things like changes in ownership have to be declared to companies House within a couple of weeks or so of the change taking place. Might then take a bit longer for them to update it on the public record mind.

I suppose there might be a chance that it isn't official yet, in that there might still be a bit of paper to sign. So EFL look at it, they pass it, and then that gives the green light to sign off on it but KLD might choose to delay doing so, in which case it isn't with the EFL and won't be updated on Companies House.

Personally I don't see any great benefit to delaying mind, if they're in a position to confirm it I wish they'd just get on with it!

The salary cap is total ****e. But we're letting the club off the hook, if they still fail to gain promotion and we fail to address any of our deep rooted problems.

The salary cap applies to everyone and we should be able to complete under it. Even if we do think it's a load if ****e.

I think the current lot are trying, it’s just a matter of quality.

It’s doesn’t help that 4 of our best players are injured/unfit. Gooch, onien, Hume, willis.

The quality that has left hasn’t been replaced, catts, maja, the keeper, Oviedo.

The pitch is an utter disgrace, and has been completely neglected, very much like the playing squad.

We need 3-4 quality additions which won’t be easy with the wage restrictions. Making the playoffs would be a huge achievement with this current playing squad.

    Exactly..

I said yesterday that the absence of Hume and O'Nien is massive.

But it's always having players like Graham, Grigg and others hanging around that brings the atmosphere down.

I've walked into a new jobs, all keen and excited, having been interviewed by managers talking about their aims and the great time they have around them ...

... then walked in, on Monday morning, to lazy people saying, 'So you're the latest sucker to be conned into taking the job'.

It's never stopped me getting stuck in but it's so much easier if the whole place is pulling together.

It's the fitness that they're checking. Covid restrictions mean that they can't put a finger on the pulse due to social distancing regulations.

Also can't exhale sharly to test lung capacity :emoticon-0105-wink:

  15. Think I saw @Prehab26 saying somewhere that he thought the EFL thing was done. He's normally spot on with his info,so it's difficult to know what could be holding up any formal announcement. If we assume that Rodwell is staying as CEO and we've got Davison as COO,Speakman as DoF and Johnson as Head Coach,it seems as though most of the senior management positions have been filled....the only one left could be finance.
A statement now would give everyone a much needed lift.

This. We're not great, we're not ****, as some would have you believe. I'd settle for a late season surge to the play-off places and fluke it from there in all honesty. Next season will take care of itself, let's concentrate on this one.

    Couldn't agree more mate.

It's become virtually impossible to build a Championship squad from L1 ...

... just get up, cling on and sort it out from there.

If it did become a legal issue there is precedent for this.....JImmy Hill managed to stop salary caps back in 1961...The law tends to look at legal precedents so it would be interesting if this was took up by players.
