It was a dire week, you are strip searched before you are sent out, some guys had had the foresight to stash some scoff on the area, if you get caught with anything on the search you are binned, however, if you pull it off it is classed as a master stroke and no further action.
One of my few regrets was not doing that course. I was down to do it in February 1988. So in October 1987 I thought it would be good fun to get run over and break my leg. Never had the desire to reapply for it after I got back. Wish I had now.
I was in military hospital in Malta in the 50s.. there were a group of marine commandos in the same ward. One day one of their mates turned up with a land rover to take them into Valletta and they offered me a lift. Just outside Floriana there is a structure similar to the Arc de Triumph. The driver was challenged to see how fast he could drive through the arch. Actually there is plenty room; buses drive through. But when you are hurtling at 70+ mph at this seemingly tiny opening, it is frightening. I shut my eyes and silently prayed as we shot through. The others thought it was great fun.. when we Debussy’s in Valletta they offered to pick me up later to go back. I made an excuse and politely declined! Mad bastards!
It was the most arduous course I ever did mate, your body is literally in pieces come the course piss up.
To be fair mate what other choice did she have? You're in lockdown and god knows how long it will last. Probably thought she'd never get out again to meet another fella Just joking, congrats mate
Great end to a sh*t year. Just need SD & CM managed out by the end of the season and 2021 could be a bloody fab year.
Merry Christmas to you all. It’s been a pretty good end to a ****ty year. We got rid of Trump, you got Brexit sorted out and then this takeover topped it off. Looking forward to improving Covid conditions and a trip home to see family and a visit to a full/happy SOL.
The majority shareholder who no one can out vote. All we need is a set up with departments from top to bottom and good local people running them. People like Sloanes, Jones, O'Brien, etc plus people like Speakman who have vision and determination. Happy Christmas everyone ... ... it appears there's a turkey in need of carving.
well....I'm 2 gin and tonics, I bottle of Champagne and a bottle of white wine into celebrating the takeover....Mrs Flanders just informed me its Xmas day as well...two birds with one stone then
I always found them a bit of an odd bunch. Most seemed ok but a definite twatish streak in them. But screw them. Onwards and upwards for us. Santa's given us what we wanted, new ownership and a plan how to go ahead. I'm very very happy. Merry Christmas to you all out there
