Its a fine Sunday morning here in Coxhoe, been for my morning dog walk, coffee by my side, the Sunday gossip columns scanned and days football viewing on Sky sorted with some F1 racing, swimming and athletics thrown in.

You wont believe this but there are people, just a few, but people who think I lead a sad life, as I sit at my laptop at 6.06 writing my first post of the day for not606 I struggle to see their point.

The question I ask myself, and you, is why?

I was never very good at sport so why do I view it now with a passion? Today, football, motor racing, swimming and athletics, why such a diverse mix?

Why do I not only follow Sunderland, yes I know its my team but why cant I be like the thousands upon thousands of football fans who follow from afar. I don’t mean those who live away so cant get there I mean the ones who simply choose not to get that involved, the ones who look out for the score every week, want us to do well but who don’t put themselves through the agony that we do.

Yesterday we lost a friendly at Burnley, a preseason game with a team made up of starters for the Liverpool game and some who needed a run out. A game that mattered not in the scheme of things but many felt sick to the stomach because we lost it, irrational, silly in many ways but sick all the same.

I think I may set up a new internet site, www.sportsjunkies.com, a cross between AA, the Samaritans and Jim ‘L’ Fix it, a place for people like me, saddos without a life, to stand up and say,”Help me.I am lost in a world of dreams and unrealistic ambition. My name is Syd and I am a sportsaholic.

Well would love to stay around and chat but they will be doing the newspaper review and transfer talk on Sky so better turn the telly on.

    I'll join up.

SSN transfer news when I get up, talksport during the day at graft, SSN (golf, cricket, footy, ping pong, anything) back on when I get in from graft. Sign on to the forums for 3-4 hours and happy days.

Bonus. My wife has given me an ultimatum, her or the sports. Hurrah, at last she's going.

Don't know why watch so much, maybe cos it's rainy season and everywhere is flooded....

So far today iv'e watched an MLS match with LA Galaxy.

Then i watched the Arsenal v Boca Juniors game, and now watching the Red bulls v PSG from earlier.

F1 is coming on but i'd rather jump of cliff than watch that ****e.
