It's a bit of a rip off of a Puma USA ad that was done a couple of years ago riding on the rise of Soccer over there. The juxtaposition between the hardened football fan and the soft, sad song.

    Utterly dull.

Just a meaningless advert from a typical ****e British newspaper. Should have braved their cameramen to to do the grounds the back of last season and filmed some real people leaving the grounds..

Good advert, hate the Sun though. Wonder if they even bother showing the advert on TV around these parts - waste of their money!

They sacrificed reality for production value. Bit of a shame.

It's a chuckaway advert though, not World at War ......... it'll be tomorrow's fish & chip wrapper.

None of them should be chuckaways mate. If they are they're substandard and not up to task!

Not up to what task ...... getting people mentioning The Sun?

They're not after critical acclaim, just shoving the paper in front of people's noses.

Some of the poorest adverts are the most successful, look at the stupid puppets or the opera singer.

Making an advert mate. There's no reason why they couldn't have produced something that actually sticks in the mind longer than yesterdays newspaper.

The agency that did it are actually pretty decent and capable of creating something meaningful and long lasting, doing so is no more expensive, no less effective and just takes the creative pair a couple more days to work out. Which I can assure you they had.

And to be honest Smug mate, I'm not saying anything controversial that one, or most, of the other agencies won't say when this is called in for review and it goes to pitch.

Because they're relentless and part of a long lasting campaign ........ this will be a short run and quickly replaced as is their way.

Filming real supporters would've looked much more fake than the actors in any case, people just can't act naturally.

I didn't say you were ......... I doubt the Sun, or the public, will give a monkey's what other agencies say.

It's not a massive campaign, for the Sun, so why bother to make a huge production out of it?

The Yeo Valley bullshit that had people ranting for the best part of 2 years was on screen once mate. Some stuff is drilled in repetitively, some stuff doesn't need to be, if it's catchy it's effective.

I'm not moaning, I'm saying it's not worth going into minute details over.

It's an advert for a crap paper I'd never buy, not an in depth documentary into football support.

It's OK with me if you want to say the ad was crap, why wouldn't it be?

That's the point mate, the Sun will care and Grey will come under review for it. The Sun paid a director 8 grand minimum for that advert, a producer 4 grand... so on and so forth.

It costs a lot to make an advert, it costs a lot more to release an advert. I didn't say it needed to be a huge production, a one day shoot could have been far more memorable.
