I had a feeling we could get something from the game, Villa had been looking flat recently and we have been looking better.

There were some flaws and at times I thought we tried to force it a bit too much and the game would end up ending like Liverpool (H) getting caught while well in control pushing for more goals rather than controlling the ball.

It's interesting how quickly things change, our next 3 fixtures -

    Luton (H)

    Forest (A)
    Bournemouth (H)

If we win these games, we'll be right in the spotlight for a 6th place finish, who knows where we'll end up this season, we have the best fixtures in the division going forward.

    Ratings -

    Dubravka - 8 - Solid, great saves

Trippier - 8 - Good mostly. A couple of **** balls, but got his assist and better deliveries from him. Better defending despite a couple of mistakes. Deserves an 8 as he created chances and got his assist.

Schar - 10 - 2 goals, superb defending. 10/10. Didn't put a foot wrong. I said before the game that I was surprised that other defenders were outscoring him and he was due a goal, now he gets a brace and could have had a hattrick.

    Botman - 8 - Superb tackling.

Burn - 8 - Best game in a while, although still looks vulnerable with balls in behind. Was targeted all night and it paid off for their goal. Still deserves an 8 though.

Longstaff - 7 - Hard working all game, does as much as you can expect him to do. More **** finishing though.

Bruno - 8 - I liked how Eddie is managing his situation. 1 more booking and he's out, so they are not letting him tackle anyone, and he's in a holding and creative role. He's been superb over the last few games. Wonderful passing. Some of the best stuff I've seen from him for a while.

Miley - 7 - Good work on the ball, works hard.

Gordon - 8 - Was a massive threat all game, but couldn't quite score.

Isak - 6 - A bit anonymous at times, went off.

    Murphy - 8 - Nice goal/assist, worked hard.

Almiron - 8.5 - Made fantastic impact, always thought he was **** at crossing, but it appears he simply cannot do inswingers with his left or do anyhting with his right, but put him on the left and he actually is quite creative. I'm glad we didn't sell him. Good member of the squad. Played a big part in the 3rd goal and also in what should have been our 4th.

Livramento - n/a - Helped see the game out.

Nit picking (I know, right?) but Trips 7, Burn 7, Schar 9, Murphy 7 (to be clear he actually managed miss of the season), Livramento 7 (he was the reason we stopped Bailey) seems better. Villa were poor.

Looking at the Villawatch site from Tash's link, seems they have issues with soggy sheet merchants too ...

I think Livramento was key to victory, rather than simply helping seeing the game out.

    Superb defending by Schar?

He was ok at that. Gordon got a yellow because of him and Dubz got injured because of his ‘superb’ defending

The Villa forum last night blaming them going to **** on Douglas Louis getting back with Aleisha Lehman.

Saying he's a worldie when he's not pumping her and **** when he's with her.

    I'd settle for being **** personally <laugh>

Think slightly unfair on Isak. Would put him in at a 7.

Tad OTT on Schar and Miggy. Down 1 for each. For me, a 10 has to be special, really special. Fab was Fab but not a 10. Miggy had an impact but wasn’t better than Bruno, Gordon or Botman.

So, we have 2 more additions to Trev's growing list of old age ailments:

    1. Poor hearing
    2. Trouble with counting

    Poor chap.
