Would you say it's better, or worse than last season? Just because we have walked it, and a "mid-table Burnley" are looking like going up, it seems people think that the standard has been poor this season, even worse than last year in fact. Do you agree with this? I would argue that the league has been stronger this year, on the whole. Still not saying it's great, but has us strolling to promotion a sign of us being good, or everyone else being poor?
I think last season had a lot more "strange" results. Anybody could beat anybody last season, I don't think that has been the case this season, well not as much anyway.
The teams at the top are at a higher standard than they were last season but the sides at the bottom are worse. I don't think that Palace (and maybe Hull) would have got promoted this season and I don't think that Posh or Wolves would have got relegated (Bristol still would).
I think the standard has been low this season. But maybe i think that because we have been so good Other then Burnley no one has shown any consistency for a decent period. Up until we beat them QPR was showing the consistency needed but they have looked a shambles since
I think you´ll find it´s about the same. It´s just we have been very consistent, pulled away & really worked well together. Burnley have turned a few loses into draws & draws into wins this season (i.e didn´t give up til the final whistle & worked, maybe, more as a unit. The rest are ´as you were´ Lost far to many, been up & down with their form & just not really been a unit. Just look at the top 12 teams ? if 1 team (us) stays consistent they are bound to pull away & if the others, minus Burnley, drop points & lose alot they´d get left behind & find them selves in a P.O battle, as is happening now. The other teams have helped us this season alot by their inconsistency... Q.P.R & Forest... the 2 teams I thought would finish 1st & 2nd in that order with us making the P.O´s... I like being wrong.... sometimes
Various factors involved imo. a) The quality of the squads that came down were better, ergo ... b) we kept under the radar as everyone was saving their "A game" for the 3 relegated sides. c) the gap in quality between top and bottom has increased, which has lead to ... d) less unpredictable results, just less, not zero. but to be honest, the main difference between this season and last is that our own standard is better. Many are using us as an example of the benefits of sticking with the same team/manager.
I like the fact that we did (almost) have the same team, just goes to show & I´ll say this now & very loud... "NOT HAVING TO GO THROUGH THE MANAGERIAL MERRY GO ROUND EVERY 12 WEEKS OR SO IS THE WAY AHEAD IF YOU HAVE A MANAGER THAT HAS A CLUE"
I think it's much stronger than last season. This Leicester side and Burnley would have finished first and second last season. Burnley are much better than Cardiff were. Hull lost 15 matches and got automatic last season - the top three have only lost 19 between them this season. Hull would have been lucky to make the play-offs this time around. Derby this season are about on par with last season's Brighton. Here's my compiled top ten: 1. Leicester (14) 2. Burnley (14) 3. Cardiff (13) 4. QPR (14) 5. Hull (13) 6. Watford (13) - would have been higher if they started like they finished 7. Derby (14) 8. Brighton (13) 9. Wigan (14) - would have been higher if they started like they finished 10. Palace (13) The season's Forest team are a very good side but injuries have really done for them, otherwise they'd be 9th or 10th. Reversing points for places: 2013 = 23 2014 = 32 2014 a much stronger league.
It's a question that cannot be answered as none of the three teams are in the championship this season
I think the real question here is what is the secret to success in the championship? Well, i believe its down to experimenting, especially if your a lowly team. Now consider you finish a season and you want to rebuddle for next, how do you do it? Well i believe the first step is keeping your best players, after which you add to your team by building on key players. Players that compliment the spine of your team. And finally its very important to have a competent manager, someone who as fate would have it is lucky. The right timing of substituions, the length of players injurys. Generally the ability to change a game.
Its a hard league to get out. You lot have pissed it because your superior to everyone else. Plus your manager is the best in the championship. Enjoy and look forward to the coming season...
