According to the Herald today the takeover once again depends on the staff's goodwill.
"By law, a football creditor's debts must be settled in full before a club can exit administration" why then is James Brent twisting the arms of staff to sign an agreement allowing their backpay to be paid over 5 years?! 5 years??? This is being made a condition of sale.
    Haven't the staff suffered enough?

It isn't very acceptable Mrs lalala but the alternative if the money is only so much would probably mean they wouldn't get paid at all and our club would be liquidated so nobody got anything. It is the same deal for both the players and backroom people so he is showing no favouratism. As I understand it they will get paid in full from here on in with extra each time to make up for what is owed. If we make any extra money then they will get their's quicker so it may not be 5 years to wait for it all. I think the 5 years is the maximum but from what Brent has said previously I think he would like it to be sooner. Considering he was not to blame for them not being paid for so long and has to sort it out so they eventually do get the cash, this deal isn't the worst case senario for them all however much we wish they could have it now. The other thing is he is at least being up front which is quite novel. Where has this "arm twisting" bit come from? That implies they are being forced to agree. As I see it they are being told the options and it is being pointed out that it is the only deal he can do and what the alternative is. That is a long way from being forced to agree. They could choose the other one.

The arm twister sensible is the 2 options of which there is only one possible choice.
Option one is the 5 year one.
Option two is liquidation ie. no money at all
this implies "if you don't accept you get bugger all" (the arm twister)

Not much of an option if you ask me..

Sorry but I took your arm twister comment to mean they were being threatened in some way so glad you cleared that one up. However unpalatable it is, it is a choice at least. A no brain choice I know but how would you feel if Argyle foulded and we all got nothing at all including a refund on your season ticket. Actually I know you don't have one of them because you can't make every game but I'm sure you get my drift.

I know it's the only option but I really feel for the staff and feel they have suffered enough already. I'm sure a lot of them have gone into debt and drip feeding them with what they are owed hardly helps their cause.

The money owed includes all ex-players........and a lot of them were on championship wages............so the total is quite substantial............and the Football League have approved the deal, which is a good start.

I think Brent's deal is a fair one. The staff get paid their full wage each month and then get a portion of the back pay until paid up (ok it will take 5 years). However had Brent been chosen at the offset, the wage bill owed would not have been so high.

If anyone is to blame for the staff suffering it is PandA who wasted the whole summer following the Heaney dirt track to nowhere.

We should be happy that Brent has even outlined a plan to pay the staff, Heaney never mentioned the staff in any of his statements until it was clear he had lost PB status.

Maybe a fairer distribution would be a uniform £X per month averaged out of the whole amount due to players AND staff, plus any balance over 5 years, or something along those lines.

That way, the lower paid staff get a bigger percentage back-pay every month than the premium paid players.

There's another equality though that some may have missed. The original statement said the PFA will administer the players' back-pay whereas the staff are I believe left to fend for themselves. I don't know what practical effect that will have but it's another potential kick in the teeth for the staff if anything goes wrong.

Well if Lecointe turns out to be the next Oxlade-Chamberlain and goes for £10,000,000 the wages will be settled faster. LOL!

Seriously though there should be a football non-playing staff support group like, B.S.F.C.A (Backroom Staff of Football Clubs Association) or something. Just to give them support in crisis situations like this.
