TF tweeted yesterday that he was feeling very, very good about the stadium.

Which, as we know, means bugger all....

This is a very odd reaction from Car Giant, at this stage, surely they should be talking to everyone...as should we!

Almost sounds personal from Mendes. This looks dead in the water.

There’s a little too much undue pessimism currently around the direction of the club I think.

Call me an optimist, but in a haphazard and roundabout way I can see evidence that some key things are now starting to fall into place at the club. We are just starting to move into the post-Philip Beard era, which was characterized by a naive and profligate approach to signings, and a self-defeating, confrontational and gung-ho approach to the new stadium and training ground.

Recently we have decided to downscale our training ground plans somewhat, to better suit a club of our size, which is no bad thing IMHO and I welcome. Also, it’s no coincidence that as soon as Beard is half way out the door, the whole tone of our approach to the Old Oak development has changed too. We now apparently want to talk to Car Giant, and as Fernandes says “find a solution where everyone wins”. That’s a another welcome change, one that could prove more fruitful too (it certainly couldn’t be any less fruitful than the previous approach).

If anything Mendes’s seeming intransigence on this could play into our hands. The Mayoral Development Corporation overseeing the project have already said that they “would like a stadium” at the heart of the development. By refusing to even talk to us, as a another recognized key stakeholder, I can’t see that they’re doing their own standing with the MDA and GLA any favours at all.

On the football side too there has been a welcome change. Sir Les may have limited experience, but I’d rather have him, as a QPR man and more importantly as a football man, overseeing our signings then Philip Beard, who proved time and again that he hadn't a clue. A focus on developing young players, rather than getting in overpaid over-the-hill “names” is the right thing to do for a club like ours.

So, it’s not all doom and gloom. It’s been a clumsy way of getting here, but things certainly could be and have been worse.

I'm not negative towards the club, you won't find me slagging off TF or the manager..........the odd player now and then maybe!!

I just pointed out that TF's tweets mean bugger all.

I am sure there is lots going on behind the scenes and Car Giant can say all they like, however, as Archway Sheet Metalworks have found out today (see Tottenhams new stadium) if there is a CPO in place, there's not too much they can do about it.

I trust TF and the board to deliver the new training ground and stadium, just think the stadium might take a little longer than first hoped.

No accusation intended mate, I just thought it important to put a little balance as to our current predicament. I totally agree with you about the tweeting. At best it's a distraction, at worse embarrassing. To be honest I rather he wasn't on it at all.

In terms of Spur's situation with the Metalworks guys though I don't think that it's an direct comparison. The key difference is that Spur's new stadium isn't covered by an MDC arrangement, but Old Oak is. An MDC legally allows compulsory purchase orders to made to clear the way for major redevelopment work, regardless of opposition from existing landowners. That's what happened for the Olympic park site. Of course it's there's no guaranteed that would happen in our case, but it does make legal challenges from people like Archway Metalworks much more difficult.

I'm tired of hearing about the stadium, to be honest. All I want to do is just forget about it and concentrate on supporting QPR. It's out of my hands.
This is not me having a go at this thread, though!

Im fed up with all the stadium & training ground chat, most clubs just get on a build there legacy, all we seem to do is make grand statements about how great its all going to be then bugger all happens, im quite happy being at Loftus Road, im only 5'7" tall leg room is not a problem for me, ive sat in the same seat for years, most probably be dead before Old Oak is re-generated.

I doubt it is any different with any other clubs pete, it is just that we don't go on their messageboards.

It makes me wonder if Philip Beard has somehow damaged any potential Car Giant/QPR relationship. It's probably the case though that the decision will be made by the Mayors Development Corporation, not by Car Giant and not by Rangers.

I think we need to move to a bigger ground in order to move forward, but otherwise I'm in complete agreement. I hope Tony's not wasting time chasing white elephants

As much it would be a heart breaker to move out of the loft we need to for so many reasons. Our future depends on it now in my opinion.

Sadly staying at Loftus Road is a huge bottleneck on building a future fan base, trying to stay in the top flight, attracting half decent players and many more reasons.

I personally have been trying my best not to get too excited about all this spin about Old Oak. Yes this is the best and maybe only option of keeping our club local to it's roots as things stand. The main thing is right now for the 1st time in many years we have owners/backers who have the money and willingness to try and do something about this.

Rome was not built in a day and even if we manage to secure the land it will still take six to ten years at least to make it happen and move out.

At this stage it may well be a back to the drawing board scenario but If Tony and the other shareholders are still at the helm in five years time a plan B should materialize I'm sure.

In ten years Car Giant will be dead
Watch how the electric thing catches on . Hybrids will take over and people will hang onto to them longer
The tech will be drip fed out like iPhones and very poor resale value
Car Giant will have trouble selling motors that will be worth more to recycle and trade back in with the dealerships ... Sounds easy that they can sell 2nd hand tech but it won't wirk like that .... The new cars will be pointless with a shelf life already determined by that I mean the cpu's
As graphene is drip fed it will only get worse ... Car owners will have upgrades as each manufacturer sets their own market Car giant will become car midget ... At the moment they sell way over the asking price and only bulk is saving them take away the bulk ie a product no ones wants and it's good night

I've just put a flat pack bed together for my daughter. Even if we get the land I estimate that it will take (conservatively) 32 million years to construct the stadium. Especially if they use the hammer inappropriately and have to start again several times, like me.

Unless we get a graphene stadium, which will take 10 seconds to put up and convert itself into a phone, some fine cotton sheets and a llama whenever we require it.

Well done with the bed. Can you get them without flat backs?
