Seems like I'm joking and this is a silly matter, but the amount we've quite literally slipped up this season (clyne especially) is ridiculous! Get them some proper boots ASAP.

That's what you get if you water the pitch copiously before kick off.

This is an important issue as I have heard people say "They need longer studs." but therein lies the route to potential injuries.

I had a match this morning and I nearly drowned. Forget boots, I could barely even move.

Not a silly matter at all...quite noticable players are sometimes losing their footing. As you mentioned, Clyne as slipped more than most which proved crucial when Van Persie scored against us. Can only think Saints groundstaff need to take more care on how much water they apply to the pitch prior to games.

It'll be funny if it snows this season, poor old Nathaniel.

One word - Blades. Are they still used..?

If pitches need to be watered, so that the ball zips around off the surface, then studs have to be a tad longer to compensate. It's quite simple really.

Query over safety of blades...that nasty cut on Rooney's leg was caused by a blade.

But Evra slipped to allow Schneiderlin to score so, both teams have to play on it, both have to suffer. They definitely water the pitch too much though.

It looks like Rodallega was wearing normal metal studs with that incident - http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/08/25/article-2193516-14B157B0000005DC-531_634x532.jpg. It's possible that studs and plastic blades can get sharpened but you would expect a pro footballer's to be in decent nick. I think it was just a freak accident.

Exactly my thoughts. It looks like Clyne must be wearing blades or useless studs. You'd have thought they'd all be wearing long studs on such a wet surface.
