Been thinking about who will go and who will stay if we go down and I think we'll see the following: Stay Rob Elliot (G) Karl Darlow (G) Freddie Woodman (G) Paul Dummett (D) Jamaal Lascelles (D) Massadio Haidara (D) Steven Taylor (D) Curtis Good (D) Callum Williams (D) Jamie Sterry (D) Kevin Mbabu (D) Lubomir Satka (D) Macaulay Gillesphey (D) Callum Roberts (M) Jack Colback (M) Vurnon Anita (M) Rolando Aarons (M) Henri Saivet (M) Andros Townsend (M) Liam Gibson (M) Haris Vuckic (M) Alex Gilliead (M) Tom Heardman (F) Ayoze Perez (F) Ivan Toney (F) Aleksandar Mitrovic (F) Daniel Barlaser (F) Adam Armstrong (F) Sammy Ameobi (F) Go Tim Krul (G) (£8m) Fabricio Coloccini (D) Chancel Mbemba (D) (£10m) Darryl Janmaat (D) (£10m) Georginio Wijnaldum (M) (£20m of course Bri) Moussa Sissoko (M) (£10m) Siem de Jong (M) (£2m) Yoan Gouffran (M) Jonjo Shelvey (M) (£10m) Gabriel Obertan (M) Cheick Tiote (M) (£3m) Sylvain Marveaux (M) Papiss Cisse (F) Seydou Doumbia (F) Emmanuel Riviere (F) Florian Thauvin (M) (£7m) I think we could rake in up to £60m in player sales too which will offset some of the lost TV money once the parachute payments are factored in. It should also allow a bit of recruitment. I also think that Mike will start 'paying' for advertising to allow any holes to be plugged from his personal pocket. He will want to bounce straight back mark my words. In terms of recruitment, I actually think we will have a half decent side in the Championship. The main areas we will need to strengthen for that division is midfield and defence and I'd like to see a couple of old heads brought in.. hell.. maybe even Barton for one season as club captain.. You may think I'm sniffing glue to put Mitro as a stayer but the lad is nuts and I think he would indeed stay. I also think he would thrive in the championship and score a lot of goals. Sometimes you need to take a step back to take two forwards and I think it's not all doom and gloom if we did go down.
I actually think you could add Shelvey and SDJ to the 'stay' list, at least until Jan. Looking at that, we look quite well set for relegation. Maybe that's the plan. Can I just add/plead that we add Charnley and Schteve to the "out" list?
I think some of the sale prices are generous to say the least, however saying that, QPR wanted £15m for Austin and WBA wanted £30m for Berahino, So if that rationale is taken, we could actually hold out for those prices.
I'm not convinced Townsend would. I think you'd get more than 10m for Sissoko despite him not being that good. He would be a good sub for a bigger side. Yeah money wise its about right. Saivet to remain? Not sure about that. I also think Anita will want out regardless. Maybe Mbemba would stay. Maybe Mitro would. Both had promising times ahead before they came here though.
Horrific. Essentially he can run (when he wants to). There is nothing between his lugs, nothing inside his left tittie resembling a heart, and he has the technical proficiency at football of Stephen Hawking. I can see why France use him like they do. They just wait until the other team is knackered in the last 20mins and say "Run, Moussa, Run"
Coloccini would 100% still be here. We would keep Shelvey, Townsend, Saivet, Mitrovic, Colback, Anita. Taylor would be offered a new contract. Perez and Krul could stay, could be sold - probably sold. Cisse, Tiote, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Mbemba, Janmaat would be sold. Adam Armstrong would come back and play in the first team regularly. We would sign a few more decent players and we would ****ing walk the Championship. I was astonished how poor the standard was week on week the last time.
Shelvey & Townsend will have relegation-release clauses in their contracts (if they have ANY sense) I cannot see England internationals playing in the Championship. I think there will be a massive clear-out, and frankly, that's what the squad needs. Too many big-time charlies swanning-around thinking they are great players in a dodgy team. No-one taking responsibility and looking to blame others (Management / Board) for their failings.
No way would we be able to hang on to Perez if we go down, he's too good for us now let alone in the Championship; if Man U, Spurs etc are already sniffing around him, he'll be snapped up in a flash if we go down. De Jong, Colo and Shelvey would likely stay, making our first team summat like -----------------------Elliott---------------------------- Dummett-----Taylor-------Colo---------Haidara Townsend-----Colback----Shelvey------Anita --------De Jong------------Armstrong----------- urgh
As if any of those guys would fetch 10 mio if we go down. They won't fetch that much if we stay up. Replace the 10 mio with 5 mio maybe.
