Manchester United – the most successful British team in modern history. Their players play with passion, directness and creativity. Throughout the years United’s players have not only illuminated Old Trafford but world football. This article will look at individual players throughout the years and how they embody the spirit and philosophy of the great club they played for.

1960 – 1970 Bobby Charlton and George Best spring to mind. The creativity of Best and the power and will of Charlton was a potent combination which saw them lift the European Cup.
Both Charlton’s and Best’s individual skills reflected the club they were playing for – a will to win and creativity is something that Manchester United will be remembered for.

1990’s – Beckham, Scholes, Giggs, Keane – A youthful team with experience of winning important games was key to United’s dominance throughout the 90’s cultivating in the magnificent treble.

Mid/late 00’s – Ronaldo – Some would argue; the most exciting player for United since George Best. Setting the world of football alight with pace, power, skill and most importantly; an end product. A player who could turn a game on its head with a step over preformed at lightning speed.

2010/2011 – Park Ji Sung – Industrious, hard working, technically inept compared to his nearest rivals and fitness. A player who truly embodies the spirit of the team in which he plays in.

Nice article, but I don't think you can mention Best and Charlton without Law. He was huge for United at the time. The same goes for the 90s, Cantona was the catalyst, and though we went to greater heights once he'd left, you can't dicount his importance. As for the current side, I would argue for Rooney as a symbol of United. Hardworking, determined, and capable of flashes of brilliance.
