With Jack only a few weeks away from returning, we seriously need to consider who's going to make way for him. Ramsey has been playing very well lately, Song has been Song, and Arteta has added some fight to our midfield. Who should be dropped? Personally, i think it's Song who should make way. Arteta seems a very good option as a holding player, he's been deployed there for Everton, and was very good at it. Signing Fellaini allowed him to push forwards towards his more natural forward role. Song still has to learn to protect the back 4, which he seems to forget in just about every game he plays, leaving them exposed and vulnerable to an opposition attack.
we'd get smashed without song, he's the only physical defensive player we have i'd rotate wilshere with ramsey and arteta give everyone abit of a rest, and let wilshere build back up slowly then decide later on
Song is a red-card risk most games, and gives the ball away in open play which is often very dangerous. Yes - I'd rotate of course.....
Rotate Wilshere with BOTH Ramsey & Arteta - a game at a time. Having 3 high-quality players who can play these positions will be fantastic. Song Arteta Ramsey - have a great understanding and are playing very well Song Rosicky Wilshere - can be utilised against the more open, lower-placed sides
Jack Wilshere, talented he undoubtedly id, must earn his spot ahead of whomever. The return of both Diaby & Wilshere brings genuine competition for places to our midfield, a situation we've not had for sometime. We need now a return to full fitness for Rosicky, Sagna, Gibbs & Jenkinson & we can challenge for a top 3 finish.

I doubt Jack will come straight in and play 90 mins every game immediately, he'll need easing in so will probably put in a coupel of sub appearances and get taken off after an hour when he does start, that takes us through to mid/end Feb after which (assuming all stay fit) they will rotate. Isn't it nice to think that we have enough quality to have such a dilemma ? It wasn't that long ago that the signings were guff and we were heading for the Championship.........
Apologies to all, Though considered, my opinion doesn't become any more valid with repetition. Apologies all once again.
No dropping of Arteta as he has been our most consistent midfielder. Also, he is adjusting to the Arsenal way of play and is getting better. I don't see this Song obsession. Yes he is good but does tend to make the odd mistake and does get carded often. He is an integral part of our midfield but not nailed on. Ramsey is also playing well so shouldn't be dropped, he is our most complete midfielder. Whoever is playing the best and is the best combination, should be playing.
You are clearly deluded if you thin that song should be dropped. He has been immense for us and his hard work has allowed arteta to settle in. A month ago i would have said that ramsey should have made way when welsher returns but now i think that is should be arteta who will be dropped. He was supposed to be brought in as a replacement for cesc but he is clearly not as good and plays far too deep. Ramsey has been brilliant recently and he has been the one who has been supporting van persie from deep. Wilshere won't be back until the end of january though so we shouldn't be worrying about that just now.
Are you referring to me being deluded? Firstly i never said that Song should be dropped. However, he is not an automatic selection in midfield for us when Wilshere comes back. They will all have to battle it out (including Wilshere) to get selected. This is very healthy for our team. Oh and who said Arteta ws bought as a replacement to Cesc? Cesc is Cesc, we would have to pay big money to get something close to his quality. Arteta is a quality all-round midfielder than can attack and defend. He is also very reliable and makes minimal mistakes. I would take Arteta over Song primarily as he is less error prone than Song.
Song is an awful footballer, no pace or skill or technique. Admittedly he is our most physical midfielder but what good is that when he is often out of position. His creative skills are zero so not much use in attack. It is a conundrum, the Song Conundrum. Wilshere MUST play when fit, he can turn defence into attack and is technically superb. Diaby can be sublime or dreadful. The ease at which he gets past players is mind boggling, but he is let down by end product and decision making. Arteta keeps the ball moving, simple passes, possession football. He has an important role to play for Arsenal. Rosicky is similar to Arteta but better defensively and can run with the ball at great pace has a role to play for Arsenal. Ramsey has the lungs to get up and down the pitch, not suited to every game we play though but certainly an asset. Song is supposed to be our defensive linchpin but lacks the discipline to play the role which begs the question - if he is not great defensively and very basic offensively, what is his point ??? I refuse to join the "hype", our midfield has no steel so of course Song stands out as being better than the others at that role. Truth be told you could put any big lump in the Arsenal midfield and he would stand out defensively.
i severely disagree on Song. he interchanges the defensive roll with Arteta at present, giving him license to move forward when Arteta stays back. He's not your Mak-style DM, he's playing very much box-to-box. He's not out of position if someone else is covering him, and this fluidity gives the team an added dimension as the opposition never knows who's going to go, and who will stay. It's nothing to do with defensive discipline. Also, Arteta was brough in to provide competition for places, not to replace Cesc. He plays deeper because he's asked to play deeper. Ramsey is the AM at present, both Song and Arteta are playing further back.
I think there's a time and a place for Song but for every great thing he does (and he does with his tackles/marking and breaking up play) he then fooks it up by passing it straight back to the opposition. If we could fit him with some form of zonal tasering device to zap him whenever he ventures too far forward I think he'd be awesome. It bugs me that Arteta, a far more cultured and creative player, is constantly forced to hang back and defend because Song has gone gallivanting forward like a simpleton. IMO it should be the other way around. I don't judge Song too harshly as I also suffer from tard-itis when I play football too but I don't get £50k a week for my over-enthusiasm. I think I'd be able to mirror his style of play if desired though and for a fraction of the price. I'm good in the air, good at running into people, tackle too enthusiastically and am awesome at losing possesion. Fook it, I'm going to email the club now...
JJSB - Hilarious bloke !!!!! I couldn't have put it better myself !! song is useless going forward, so why does he bother ? Why is he encouraged to go forward ? Let Arteta go hunting for the ball and let him play his natural game, surely we would benefit more from that than letting "cumber" Song dazzle the opposition with his frightening array of offensive tricks lol.
Song must keep his place, this season he has once again shown what a quality player he is, when he sticks to his postion at DM he is quality. Ramsey aswell this season is really getting back to his best and he continues to get better. Personally, I would rotate Jack with Ramsey and Arteta.. just think how many games he played last season, will be good for him to have a rest once in a while
