David Croft will join Martin Brundle in the commentary box, although it is not stated who will be the lead commentator*. Anthony Davidson will join his former BBC 5live partner in the commentary box for the practice sessions and also do post-race analyst at the Grands Prix which do not clash Le Mans. Ted Kravitz has also made the switch from BBC to Sky and will be down in the pitlane as normal, he will also be co-hosting an extra F1 show with Georgie Thompson. Natalie Pinkham has also bizarrely gone to Sky. I do not blame any of the former BBC crew in going over to Sky, the BBC have let both us and them down with their non-committal approach to F1. BBC clearly think F1 is not as worthy as showing as some of the other stuff they show like; Don't Tell the Bride, Holby City, and The World's Strictest Parents. I know Sky are a horrible organisation but in this situation I really do think it is all the BBC's fault and they should carry all of the blame (along with Bernie). At least Sky will bring a committed, full-on, in depth approach to F1. I for one will not watch any of the races next year on the BBC and will instead just watch them all on internet streams. * James Allen has just wrote: Radio 5 Live’s David Croft will be lead commentator, with Martin Brundle moving into a role like the one Andy Gray used to have in football for Sky; live colour commentator, chief pundit and lynchpin of the operation.
looks like a good line up, now we just need The Chain as the main intro music Going to miss Eddie and DC constantly knocking each other and disagreeing though
Disappointing that Brundle is not the lead commentator and that DC isn't there. I have no idea who Croft and Davison are though.
David Croft is the sycophant who pretends to laugh (a very false, forced chuckle) whenever he presents what he thinks might be a controversial point or disagrees with his co-commentator or someone he is interviewing. He is the guy who manages to put "err" into virtually every gushing sentence. He is the guy who goes into overdrive when he launches into 'advanced driving commentary' if a camera remains on a car more than a few corners, and is so concerned with showing he is good at it that he needs to pretends to be out of breath. David Croft puts on an act; that which he thinks is expected. He is singing to the crowd with what he thinks is their own tune. He is not 'his own man'. It is difficult to see any authenticity in him at all. He conceitedly 'bigs himself up' by referring to himself as 'Crofty' when reading out questions from the public. Irritatingly pukable - but nonetheless, infinitely better than Jonathan Legard. I am so glad 'Crofty' is going to Sky (which I will not watch unless forced by professional circumstance). Bye bye 'Crofty': I'll not miss you.
You mention Legard, can anyone think of anyone else who will be considered for the BBC commentary....?
Hope you enjoy Sky keep asking you why Seb keeps winning Brundle cause the simpletons within 10 minutes have proved they know **** all what's going on and the general fact to winning, first you need a great car. Funny enough isn't that how Rupert operates, knowing **** all what's going on... For me Sky is the equivalent of "A Question of sport" you can answer any question about sport bar F1 and they think they are worthy of the money they get. The second they go into F1 territory they are just the blind leading the blind into the line of a double decker bus. ffs some pleb thought Rosberg was Kovalinen and Trulli was some football player... IDIOTS! *sighs* And just to take it another area of F1 relating to Russian politics, funny how the BBC can call them out on social disputes and try to make it un-democratic with not reporting on the mass protests in Russia. Yet they did it with us by blocking everything about this ****ty dual deal as much as they could, they are no ****ing different to Putin and co. and so full of ****e!
If you buy Sky then you support hacking into murder victims' mobile phones and the ensuing trauma that it causes. If you buy Sky then you support the subverting of democracy through the use of gutter journalism and hypnotic tv rubbish. Buy Sky tv for the F1, you ****ing stupid sheep.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/dec/07/f1-bbc-team-sky This just came up on the Guardian regarding the BBC exodus to Sky. I think Sky will find not many people buying into their service for F1, I certainly won't be, Basil has the right idea
I do not see why people are getting angry at Sky for this. Yes I hate the Sky corporation and will not be buying Sky or anything but I do not blame them for getting the F1 coverage, that is their job; to show the best sports. It is the BBC and Bernie who are to blame for this, BBC should not of dropped F1 and if they were going to they should of dropped it completely and let Channel 4 try and get the exclusive rights. But instead they have done the worst thing; prevented F1 staying fully on free to view tv by making a deal with Sky so that Sky get all the races while the BBC still get to say they show F1 while cutting costs and effort without a thought that it is going to be bad for F1 fans who now have a choice of only watching 10 races of the F1 season, forking out loads of money to watch something they previously had to pay the tv license to watch (and they still have to carry on paying the tv license money), or depend on there being decent illegal streams on the internet to watch the races on.
Careful Basil, you're bordering on libel by posting in a public forum like that. News corp are only share holders of BSkyB, albeit a 39.1% take holder. The company is a separate entity from News Corp. and there for your comments could be proved to be untrue and damaging to BSkyB, the basis for a libel action against you.
Hay I'm not judging the people who want to buy Sky F1, we all have out own opinions on what is above board and what isn't. I don't get on trains, I start them. My old man is considering getting F1 on virgin media as he would only pay for F1 and not the other channels to Sky. Anyway he is getting a new job so he will be getting paid more and we were considering upgrading the "media package" Internet etc... So F1 really isn't the only influence.
A man of many words. Lets remember the whole reason F1 exists is to make money for the people involved, and as a marketing tool for the companies and engine/car manufactors involved. It is a business first and a Sport only for 2 hours on a sunday afternoon. I would much rather the BBC kept the coverage, I thought they had it just right, but at the end or the day if Sky could put a better dealon the table - thats life I'm afraid!
I hear that Legard is in the running for making a return to the BBC. (Excuse me whilst I scream)AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGHHHHHHHHH…!……!…………!…!………!!!… I bet this was Murdoch's idea to persuade people not to bother with the BBC…
If people love F1 then you watch it whatever channel it's on. I understand if people can't afford it but I find it silly that people refuse to watch SKY because of 1 man. If anyone is to blame it's the BBC and Bernie Ecclestone.
