This is a big problem for me. I've already said I don't think Boris is a bad person, he's just a buffoon in the wrong job.
The likelihood is his replacement will be more hawkish.
    Out of the frying pan...

Truss is an example of the incomprehensible nature of cabinet appointments for me. Look at the list of jobs she's been given, none of which she has any qualifications for, or prior experience of, as far as I can see (apart from maybe Minister for Women, seeing as she's probably one of them), culminating in Foreign Secretary. She appears to have no more gravitas than Boris.
It's always been like this, cabinets get re-shuffled and ministers get portfolios that they often have no clue about. That's no way to run a country. The whole idea of career politicians with little or no professional capacity in the field they're responsible for just seems absurd to me.

I think he is a bad person. i think he is a very bad person indeed. a self centred amoral individual out for self aggrandisement, no more no less. also vindictive in some ways but utter and completely corrupt and bankrupt.

this is the same argument as Trump. you cannot have loose cannons flip flopping about lying, bullying and cheating while out for self all the time. Turmp lined his failing business pockets with every us event going. all stayed at trump hotels etc etc etc etc.

johnsons's replacement will have policies that are counter to law and international treaties so it'll get no better but at least they might have the good grace to actually be able to have a basic list of MPs and mark never give a job next to their name. Pinchey should have been on that list, they all knew he should.

then if someone is caught you call them in and say back luck old chum or dear and send them off to a massive pay day in the private sector as was the way of old. Patel should be gone 4 times over now. She is a filthy bully and near fascist who has no place near public office. gone day 1. can get a lovely job in the private secotr with vast pay as a reward.

I try not to be too judgemental on other people's morals, unless their behaviour is obviously beyond any excuse.
Many people will bluff and bluster to save face, it's just that in a high public office that is not acceptable. If we want to move on as a society we need open and accountable governance and none of this "do as I say and not as I do" nonsense.
Boris as a person, with all his faults, is less offensive to me than the fact he somehow became our PM.
He's a cartoon blimp, not a serious player on the world stage, and this shows the parlous state of our political class.

Funnily enough was talking about this earlier. Now I must admit I have very little lnowledge and interest in politics…

but it always amazes me when you look and someone has been minister for health, then goes to education, then goes to foreign affairs etc.

I don’t understand how that is a thing. It’s like in a business moving the finance director to sudddnly be director of HR, then moving them to be director of IT. All the time they’re sitting their with an engineering background.

Surely the minister of education should be someone who has an educational background? Similar y health should be someone that’s worked in healthcare and knows how things run etc?

Its not a person walking down the street with a silly hair do and a safety pin though the back of their neck. live and let live.

this is the highest office in the land and his behaviours are utterly contemptuous of the public and standards. He thinks to bride us a bit now and we will forget his lies and cheats. this tells me he is utterly without scruples and self obsessed.

he has since he started in politics but in particular since 2015 been on a crusade to personal glory. he's lied through brexit for his own self interest and had hurt the country to the tune of 100billion in GDP, he's lied through covid causing 1000s of early deaths including that ill fated game at anfield that has on official reports 37 deatsh DIRECTLY attributed to it going ahead, he's lined his pockets with Russians, he's ignored bullying, philandering, scandal after scandal, he's betrayed NI to get brexit done then reneged on his deal, totally shattering our global image such as it was.

People are dead because of boris johnson.
People are financially ruined because of boris johnson
Politics in general is in the toilet with zero standards left because of boris johnson

the general thought is that it keeps them fresh but in actual fact like those corporate types the sole qualification is to be a political animal and duc kand dive and spin. they are "managing" a department who rely mostly on permeant civil servants to run while the name on the door spins stories.

If someone have to actually ACHIEVE an objective to be considered a success, even one bill to improve lives or one scheme etc that would be ok but they don't. its rather like corporate america.

    6 months to bed in
1 year to duck and dive
    6 month leaving
New promotion new assignment. zero to show but a good impression of you at high level.

    P.I.E.

    Performance
    Image
    Exposure.

I was told by a young person that they couldn't affect performance... or that nobody cared but they could project image and get managers to get them exposure.
Image = look at me types on linked in etc talking diversity or doing some such
Exposure = get names around directors and vps table the more mentions the better.

They got a promotion. and got to manage 6 people by sitting in an office plying on their phone for 3 months while letting the business suffer cos they got the plant managers ear and did a pointless event for them. got a few award nominations put in by said plant manager using others work and then that person immediately flounced off to another business unit.

AKA you ****ing fool of a plant manager.

The difference now is social media, everything is reported. Lloyd George had loads of mistresses and nothing ever reached the public. Churchill was an absolute pisshead, but is lauded.

Politicians of today play to social media for likes, but get annoyed when the same social media shows what they are really like.

    You'd think so, wouldn't you?
In reality Yes Minister wasn't far from the truth - the Civil Service runs the country, but they're unelected so no-one makes a big thing about it. Ministers can still make a balls up of it though by thinking they know better than someone who's worked their entire career in a specialised field.
The problem with Civil servants is that entrenched ideas and habits can become hard to shift, and in theory ministerial oversight should offer an objective assessment of them, but it's easy to see how a senior civil servant would be scratching their head at just how ignorant of the job their minister can be.

This to some extent is outdated as so many senior Civil servants these days are parachuted in from private sector rather than being career ones but that just means the ones below them are the ones scratching their head at just how ignorant of the job their boss can be.

He probably thought the whole Prime Minister lark was a bit of a jape and didn't realise he might actually have to work.

Pep Lijnders has a book coming out about our season, like a little different to the usual football book.

It would be heavy on detail and "stuff" but equally it would be revealing to mentalities etc.

overall my view is if you are still working here don't be writing books. we will see if it has anything that is juicy enough to piss someone off.

I think we change tactical so often that it won't matter and everyone knows about the intensity anyway.
