One quarter of the teams in the Premier League Have until now wielded the axe, Astonishing intolerance from some Boards Who are desperate to cover their backs So far I´d say, of those with a new man Only Crystal Palace can show, Any marked improvement on the field of play And any signs that they will grow With West Brom and Tottenham still yet to choose A successor to fill their seats, It´s hard to see any in the market place Who might improve on their current feats As well as the disruption all this does cause Financial compensation too, Will leave quite a big cash hole in some cases Which they also must find some way through The days when good names were just hanging on trees Waiting for a new chance to dawn, Seem gone from the football horizon for good And like for like now seems the norm Impatience, pressure and high expectancy Too high sometimes it seems to me, Makes managers shelf life increasingly short As they strive to succeed manfully And all of the above makes me so grateful That at Carrow Road we have heads, Which haven´t been turned by this season´s events So they´re tempted to follow the leads. How do you know he's hit the nail on the head, WBA and Spurs haven't even picked managers or played any games since. Palace are better, Fulham about the same, Sunderland are also better.
Disagree carrabuh, I haven´t yet seen any marked improvement from Sunderland, which is how I worded it , but we may get more of an idea on Saturday
´Tis true, one point they had when he took over, but since then they´ve amassed a further 8 in 9 games, still less than a pt a game, which if it continues will certainly see them relegated, hardly think that´s a marked improvement.
Sunderland "improved" even under the caretaker, before Poyet took over. They were clearly under-performing badly with Di Canio in charge so a degree of improvement is only to be expected. Have they enough about them to survive? Jury still very much out but with strengthening in January I can see them making a fight of it. Less to do with Poyet though, more the squad.
I very rarely disagree with you Carrabuh but I do over this issue. I apologise in advance if what I say has been covered before but I have been away for over 3 months and cannot hope to read all the posts made in my absence. I do not know how Hughton has set up his teams in the last 3 months but looking at the League table he must be doing something right. I thought his line ups and tactics last year were often flawed especially away from home and looking at our away record - especially goals against - I suspect that this is still a major concern but - and it is a big but - we are 14th in the table and 5 points clear of the bottom 3. Quite frankly I could not have expected much better at this stage of the season and last season he kept us up which, in my opinion, was an achievement in itself. During the transfer windows I annoy a lot of people. When they say ' buy X ' I say ' to replace who' . When they say 'sell Y ' I say ' to be replaced by which player'. I have to do the same with CH . It is easy to sack a manager but who would you get in to replace him? I cannot say whether the 4 Clubs in the bottom 5 who have sacked Managers have improved but they are all still in the bottom 5. Will Spurs regret their kneejerk reaction this week when they sit down and look for a replacement? Were we spoilt by the success of Lambert and too quickly forgot the Managerial changes before him which took us to the bottom of Div 1? Roeder, Grant and Gunn clearly showed that change is not necessarily good. I am not a CH lover but at the moment I cannot think of a Manager, who is likely to come here, who is also likely to give us a better chance of staying up.
A pitiful excuse. How do you expect anyone take you seriously when you can't even be bothered to read what they have to say? A mere couple of hundred threads and some pure gold opinions in there - you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't devote several days straight to catching up. Kids of yesterday, eh?
Guilty as charged. Perhaps you could give me a summary Rob! Talk about kicking a bloke when he's down. My wife about to go back to Australia for a couple of months leaving me to having to spend most of my time in the Pub and playing Golf. Sometimes life's a bitch!!!
Gawd, how long is it now? You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to canary-dave again.
