Yesterday Paralympics GB issued a press release about medal expectations from August 29th. This was reported as '103 Gold medals' in news reports, but that's ridiculous, it's 103 medals in total. http://www.paralympics.org.uk/gb/ne...on-of-second-and-more-medals-from-more-sports I'm concerned that when the 103 Golds target is 'missed', people will promptly point out the Paralympians as 'failures' when the situation will be completely different. The BBC did get it right online, but I definitely heard '103 Golds' on news reports. On the old 606 we had quite a lot of spirited debate around the Paralympics, from the usual trolls failing to see that Paralympians in general are superb athletes who happen to have impairments, to highly insightful comments from the brother of one of the nation's greatest Paralympians. It would be nice to have that again.

The target is 103 medals - they got 102 in Beijing (if that's how to spell it - what a stupid f**king name. Who ever ordered Beijing Duck in a chinky?)
Let's be entirely honest - the reason that the events are sold out has a lot to do with the fact that the tickets are cheap and people who couldn't get their kids into the venues for the Olympics have decided to go for this instead so they can say they were there. Unfair maybe but undoubtedly true.
