I know it's still early days but we've looked so assured this season, like we belong top half and we're certainly progressing, as you say Jager. There is an obvious togertherness with the squad and a feel good factor with everything Swans.

Being a greedy I want Siggy and Jonjo to start scoring and I think this is about to happen, especially for Siggy, because Ki is fit again.

Cork is a superb defensing midfielder but tends to pass the ball 'up' field where as central midfielder Ki will exploit any space in front of him by running into it, changing it from a benign 'empty space' into a dangerous area full of attacking possibilities.

Because of this Ki attracts attention when he advances over halfway and this in turn WILL relieve some of the pressure on Siggy ahead of him. More time and space for Siggy means more time to pick a pass and more shots on goal and being both sharp shooter and sniper, more goals.

We are not Swanselona any more, thank Gob, but a multi talented, high quality squad of players all willing and able to support our new style, plug'n'play football.

'Defensive' I think you meant, Stumpy. But I agree with you on Siggy. Something not quite clicking with him this season even though he's working hard. Like you, I think talent always comes through in the end and he'll get going, and I'm so glad we kept him in the last window.

Not sure about the 'new style' point though. I think we're more adaptable under Monk and he deserves huge credit for that. I do agree that there's a bit less (and it's only a bit) passing in triangles for the sake of it. I still think we're too slow in the build-up at times and allow teams to regroup but that's nit-picking maybe. We're doing fine so far. :)

I think the difference is less in style and more in clinical finishing. Loved Bony to bits but he tended to need lots of chances. This season, with Gomis and especially Ayew in form we seem to need less.

How did I miss this thread? Very good read indeed, Shelvey will score that I have no doubt about and Siggy once the novelty of Ayew and Gomis wears off.

We have exceeded expectations so far and with style, you have to be happy being unbeaten so far and nobody can say we were lucky, Monk has put together a strong looking squad that he can swap players at will and we still look strong, I'm very happy with the way monk is running the club to date. All we need now is for jinx and the council to pull their finger out and get this business of our extension to the standard we need up and running or accept it cant be done and move on to some other solution.....8/10 for the season so far....marked down for the extension fiasco...
