Series 1 Series 2 Series 3 The Same winner, but a different date, is that a fair way to look at F1 2011 ? I would say no. During the course of the season we have seen a changed look, Pirelli, KERS, DRS and what not. The youngest double world championship and Red Bull with two world championships since it joined in 2005 where it finished ... 7th in the constructors championship in its first year ! World Champion: I think we all know, but for those emm asleep for the last few months, Sebastian Vettel won his 2nd world championship, and also making him the youngest ever back to back world champion. His team also helped too, giving him a strong performing RB7, which has shown more success than its predecessor the RB6. DRS + KERS: After a year of analysis, DRS has been deemed a success. Starting the year as a one detection zone idea to aid overtaking, it ended the season as a two zone idea. The FIA have had a hard time getting it right, too long of a zone, resulting in an easy pass, or a short zone which is too little to make a pass. DRSâs main advantage is it lets out of place cars back up the grid, instead of stuck behind a slow car for half the race. KERS made a return in 2011, A successful idea, as it is allows the driver to strategically decide where to deploy his extra 80BHP, along with DRS it has proved a lethal cocktail. Have DRS and KERS been a success in your opinion, let us know ! Race / Season Quality: The season has yielded a rating of 7.3, got from the average rating of each race, done after the race weekend. In my opinion this has been a good racing season, thanks to Pirelli. As the season went on the formula of a predictable championship and a conservative Pirelli made out for a poor ending to the season. Another point is, Can we blame Hermann Tilke ?, of the bottom 12 races this year, 6 have been built by Tilke. Going by them figures it might be more to do with that the championship was predictable towards the end of the season leading to lower ratings. Pirelli: At the start of the season Pirelli brought a fresh approach to F1. They would have tyres that degraded, and make drivers make multiple stops and also make strategists work for their money. By the end of the season Pirelli had turned to a more conservative approach. whitmarsh has called for a more aggressive Pirelli to return next season, hereâs hoping ! On a Final Note: Well done to the F1 Not606 prediction team who took their inaugural Inter-forum win. This article is not meant to be an in-depth analysis to the season, but a review, Enjoy and thanks for reading !.
id say the seaosn was about a 5.5 tops, after the first 5 races ie simply became predictable and know with ferrari and redbull not abiding to the fota budget caps i reluctantly admit it will probably be the same thing next year
In terms of Vettel winning yes, but i actually think the racing was brilliant until monza exciting through the field if not for 1st (It was on the verge of being a classic). After that my interest dropped a lot and if the rankings Sportydan did are anything to go by so did everyone elses. Maybe it was the championship, but i fear its more that the DRS got old and once it wasn't fresh anymore the DRS passing wasn't actually that interesting.
According to Benson on the BBC (who I trust as far as I can throw), the RRA is legally binding until 2012 or 2017, depending on the source. Ferrari at least apparently want to reduce costs anyway, with Benson stirring up rumours that Red Bull have far more money to throw at F1 than the others, due to their relatively well weathering of the recession. His article on the BBC makes a more long-winded attempt to explain it.
