Russell Brand is threatening to sue the Scum for libel for calling him a hypocrite and has said any money he may win he will donate to New era estate and JFT96.Whats people's thought on receiving the gobsh*tes money for JFT96?
Nice Idea from RB but I don't think he's thought it through , I would Imagine they would not accept it.

not sure mate,

he may have the best intentions, but i get wary of anything most celebs do now days as its usually all pr bollocks.

i don't hold out much hope for the new era estate residents either sadly, i think they will only have xmas time sadly, the american company have done nothing illegal, its just greed, like most things now days.

be a better idea for me if he gave it to the salvation army or something, and they will use it to help out those who have nothing this xmas.

Yeah I was thinking maybe he would be better off giving it to a Charity for the homeless.

Nice gesture in theory but the fact he's made it public and it wouldn't actually be his money says it all. Same as Beckham announcing he would donate his PSG wages to charity. Considering he and his wife are estimated to be worth north of £150million I doubt he missed the extra cash!

What does Brand plan on donating if he doesn't manage to squeeze money out of The Sun? A signed photo?

6. I'm the other way with these things. I think celebs simply can't win.

Yes they have plenty of money so won't miss it but isn't that the point? They are accepting they have enough money and therefore are looking to help a charity / good cause INSTEAD of being greedy! Also, publicising it isn't necessarily in their own interest only, any publicity a charity or good cause can gain the better.

I couldn't give a **** who it is, Russell Brand or not, it doesn't matter.

In this instance, suing that rag and donating the money somewhere is fine by me. I can understand the concern regarding JFT96 and where that money would have come from though <ok>

People are always so cynical when celebs donate money. Sometimes it might be partly for their own interests but them announcing it also puts that charity in the public eye which can only help.

I'm sure most charities couldn't care less if someone announced it as long as it's the long term it helps the charity out

Brand already donates money, gives free food out at protests and speaks publicly about the actual things that are wrong with society that the Eton boys do not want to discuss. That's why they're all having a go.

Brand came from nothing, got into a position where he can be heard and is now talking a lot of sense.

he doesn't pretend to have the answers but any clown worth his salt knows the first step to fixing anything is clearly identifying the problems and discussing them, this is what Brand is doing at the moment, trying to bring the actual problems into the public consciousness.
I am not talking about the drugs, I am talking about the giant pyramid scheme that is society.
The bank bonuses amount to almost the same money cuts amount to from 2008 to 2014
Osborne has given 7bn in tax breaks to the mega wealthy, and we know this trickle down nonsense is nonsense, it's the hope that if you give the rich a bigger meal more food will fall from their plate down on to the floor for you schlobs to scramble for. This is essentially the basic logic of Thatcher\Reaganomics. Thing is, as they both knew, the rich have napkins (politicians\quangos\banker fraud), so nothing hits the floor.

Brand is a marmite kinds guy you either like him or hate him but on the system, he's bang on and it's actually good to hear someone saying it.
You'd never hear Bono talking like that, he likes to hang out with mass murderes and give them ipods and gifts and go to Davos, the tax dodging little prick.

You always see benefit fraud programs on TV, how many banking fraud programs and political cronyism programs have been on TV?

update,

i know most don't give a ****, but just thought this was good news for some, reassuring that the money men doesn't always win.

19 Dec 2014 — YES!!! WE WON!!! New Era Estate has been taken over by Dolphin Square Foundation / Dolphin Living! We believe at this time that this is a total victory!!

If you don't fight you won't win! We hope this will inspire everyone else out there to say no to predatory landlords, rack-renting and social cleansing!

And again we thank all our supporters from the bottoms of our hearts!

And watch the TREWS tonight!

About 5/6 years ago I didn't know much about Russell Brand but perceived him to be a self-obsessed nob, seeking publicity. Over the years, the more and more I've seen and read about him, the more respect I have for him. His commitment to highlighting injustice, his political views and moral compass, his direct action on behalf of lost causes, all show him to be a pretty decent human being with a mind of his own.

Totally agree.

Brand is a decent guy with many forward thinking and positive ideas. No wonder large sections of the English media are constantly reporting about him in a negative way.
