So Nigel is 2/1 second fav for an early exit, hmmmmmm Stan James Bet: 7/4 Paul Ince 2/1 Nigel Pearson 5/1 Tony Mowbray 8/1 Dave Jones 8/1 Lee Clark 10/1 Gary Bowyer 10/1 Mick McCarthy 10/1 Sean Dyche 14/1 Gianfranco Zola 14/1 Harry Redknapp 16/1 Billy Davies 16/1 Mark Robins 16/1 Paul Dickov 20/1 David Flitcroft 20/1 Eddie Howe 20/1 Steve Lomas 25/1 Brian McDermott 25/1 Chris Powell 25/1 Dougie Freedman 25/1 Nigel Adkins 25/1 Nigel Clough 25/1 Owen Coyle 28/1 Oscar Garcia 33/1 Gary Johnson 66/1 No Manager To Leave
66/1 for no manager to be sacked!? Who would ever bet on that!? Wonder when that last happened... Not overly surprised that Pearson and Mowbray are up there, considering our performances in the second half of the season.
Rememer Paul Ince has already offered his resignation this summer so he would be my favourite followed by Harry Redknapp Gary Bowyer has to be in with a shout aswell
Looks how low Clough is on that list. I bet after the first few seasons of under-performance, he'd have been near the top of these type of lists. Now people just expect him to stay, no matter what they do!
gary bowyer will do an awful awful job but they want stability so will take a lot to sack him... he will do awful though. I still think there might be money on Brightons Garcia
Do bookies pay out if a manager leaves on his own accord, or just if he's sacked? I can see Harry Redknapp departing as soon as a better offer comes along - especially after informing their fans that Hooper was a done deal the day before he signed for Norwich!
just first to leave their job under any circumstances. Not sure where 'gardening leave' falls under the rare circumstances though
Or, just maybe, the Derby board are taking the longer term view and buying into him building slowly. Just like football club boards use to do before Sky came along and turned the game into monster cash cow!
McD won't get sacked unless we are in relegation problems. He has a few seasons now I think to really rebuild the club and squad. I think Redknapp is a good bet, he already seems over it and I can see them having a torrid season
Am I being stupid, or is it for managers being sacked or just leaving? I think Redknapp will walk fairly quickly. Brian McDermott would be my bet!
Jack, Jack, Jack .... you have to weigh the season up as a whole buddy .... we finished a creditable sixth, what the fook are the bookies on FFS...
It would be nice to think this is the case, even at Derby. The board's patience has been extraordinary.
I think NP would be a good bet. I can´t see us setting the npow... ? no wait, sky bet on fire with the same team as last season. I hope I´m wrong mind but it´s the P.O´s at best & a new man in (some time during the season).
Out of interest, I'm curious as to why you think McDermott would be a good bet. He won't get sacked, I think there is no chance of that and so the only possibility would be him walking which I don't really get why he would unless he got a decent offer from a prem club which is probably still unlikely because he isn't that proven there anyway. Just curious to know your reasons really
I agree with you - Leeds have now gone for a man to build a team with (all due respect) no significant war chest - my own view is that your board will be looking for improvement this season and a promotion push next (with anything more this season as a bonus)
BMD did a very good job at Reading. My worry about him is he is a 1 club man I think he will get time though
