Six shots and five on target. Bloody unheard of! What’s going on. :emoticon-0136-giggl

Proposal for the Bristol City game.

At the conclusion, whatever the score, the squad , management and administration should come over the the Loft/R block and beg forgiveness for the fiasco of this season. I’ve seen this done, with players at least, in German football where the team go and get told off by their ultras, heads bowed.

Then, we introduce an element of Roman gladiatorial contests. One by one each player, coach, administrator and owner will be presented to the crowd. As individuals they will receive the thumbs up - stay or thumbs down - **** off now from the faithful.

A brilliant win today should not blind us to the reality of this season, they shouldn’t be wandering off on holiday thinking that this has been acceptable in any way.

Put up a post in the centre circle for those given the thumbs down. Blindfolds optional, but tie them up to the post and allow the faithful to pummel them with rotten fruit and over priced pies....(was going to go for summary execution, but that might be a tad extreme!)

I’m surprised that someone of your higher education would not know that the “Thumbs up/Thumbs down” sign used in Gladiatorial games was almost certainly a myth, gaining credence after being used in the painting ‘Pollice Verso” painted by Jean-Leon Gérôme in 1872.

But there you go…….

Of course I knew that, just didn’t want to confuse people on here, although the literal thumbs up and down is a myth, the crowd did use thumb gestures - the pollice verso and pollice compresso - to decide the fate of gladiators (but probably not in every fight); but there is no record of what these gestures actually were. OK?

The ubiquity of the current gesture and common understanding make it a valid suggestion. In my opinion.

So the Bourgeoisie think that the common people would be confused by the stating of historical fact ?

Interesting
