Regardless of the result on Sunday, 5 more wins from 13 games should see us comfortably into the play offs and I have hope that we can achieve that. The league is poised now so whoever out of those top 7 teams goes on a run can finish in the auto places. I fancy Norwich and Derby to have the momentum to take them over the line - but our own side are capable of stringing a run together and our little wobble may mean we hit form again just at the perfect time. This is probably the only thread posted in the next seven days that is not going to be all about the derby so how do people see the business end panning out for Town and the clubs around us?
" Regardless of the result on Sunday, 5 more wins from 13 games should see us comfortably into the play offs " I think you're very wrong here. We're very close to 7th and the top 8 Wolves including are winning games for fun at present. We're going to need more than 5 in 13 in my eyes.
Na just gotta pick up enough points between now and the end of the season.....don't care who we get them from.....
Plenty of points to be shared out between the top six hopefuls, many play each other from now until the end of the season. We'll finish top six.
I have to say our run in on paper isn't looking too clever. Trips to Norwich/ Boro/ Wolves and Watford to come for starters......! I'm going to be arrogant enough for once to tick Blackpool home off as a win.
Westy, we are currently third after 33 games. I really couldn't give a monkey's who we still have to play. In my opinion we are where we are on merit now and we shouldn't fear any team. Games will be played, points will be won and lost and probably not in the way most expect and we'll finish in the top six. I fancy us over two legs against any team in the league, the Final, should we get there, will be an intense and exciting affair though.
Spot on chief.......whatever happens it's been a good season ....nice to be battling at the top rather than fighting relegation........this season is very much alive for us and could still go many ways......COYB.
80 points is going to be required this season to cement a play off berth, so we need to win approx. half our remaining games...IMO.!
Oh agree San Diego we're here on merit. I don't like the looks of the fixtures however sometimes the hard ones become easy and vice versa, who knows! 13 massive games to go, COME ON YOU BLUES.
No team has ever got 75+ points and not made it into the playoffs Though, this season is as likely as any to throw up a surprise.. Though I wouldn't see it being much higher than that, simply because the number of matches still to be played between the current top 8 means that points will inevitably be dropped. One thing I'm sure Mick is instilling is that the league table isn't the be all and end all. The points tally is what will see us promoted. 80 points will guarantee a high play off place and 85 should secure a top 2 finish.
The games against Norwich, Brentford, Middlesbrough, Wolves, and Watford are crucial, make no mistake about that. I know a win brings three points, regardless of the opposition, but those aforementioned teams are clearly 'six pointer' matches with regards to the play offs.
Personally I don't give a damn who we're playing, top or bottom of the league. We should want to WIN, end of. Same goes for finishing place - I want a top two place; playoffs are horrible, cruel and create more disappointment than delight. Plus the fact that there is so much injustice; the third best points score should mean promotion. Oh, and I fear we'd bollox the playoffs :-/
You never know, usually at this time of season the top teams start to drop points and the ones at the bottom start picking up some surprise wins although this year I just the feeling the bottom teams are going to out without a wimper. Norwich are looking dangerous, I get a feeling their hopes of an auto place depend on how they do against us. Bournmouth look like that could drop off after their good form. I think Boro and Derby have been the most consistent and will certainly be in the top 3. My concern is with all these big games coming up against teams in the big 6 Mick will not want to lose, so will always go for the draw, so frustrating times ahead i believe
