What games were you watching? City dominated at home to you and wasted a host of chances. From what I hear Everton did as well.

I agree that points in the bank are better than games in hand. Everton at home will not be easy for Arsenal by any means, if they can even get a draw that provides some respite for Chelsea and Spurs but in your case it could open up the possibility of 3rd/4th coming down to goal difference <yikes>

You are wrong about the Citeh & Everton away games - both were pretty even affairs and we should have won at least one of those on the day.

Having said that, I agree with your 'momentum is key' theory, which is why I remain negative about our prospects at this point - although a spirited and/or impressive win at Swansea could change that opinion....

I can't say much about Everton but there was no way that City game was even. Only Chelsea at home was more one sided out of their "big" home games.

What does our first game against City have to do with the possibility of beating them at WHL?
Half of our team will probably be different and they looked like they'd given up in their last game.

We've seen enough crazy results in the last few weeks of seasons to know that you should always expect the unexpected.

It's true that some teams' performances will dip because they feel they have little left to play for. City could well fall into that category once any remote chance of the title has gone- Utd too once it's won! City may ultimately prove a far easier game than, say, Wigan or Southampton. As PNP says, City showed little at Everton; there seemed no urgency or commitment.

Until the last 25 mins the game was even, possession 50-50 and in fact we came close to making it 2-0 in the first half. 2nd half saw them get more possession, but until Dzeko came on they created very few chances. Not sure how you can say that was one-sided.

And as PNP points out, the side we put out at home is unlikely to feature Friedel, Gallas or Huddlestone, all of whom started in November.

City losing to Everton at least once in a season is as nailed on as death and taxes. Their style of play may be suited to Spurs high line more but who knows. City's season ends after the Manchester Derby.

I think Arsenal could struggle against QPR and Wigan - regardless of home/away, both of those will still be fighting tooth and nail for points to avoid the drop.

Wouldn't bet on us beating Arsenal away, we never do. I think we've beat you a few times at WHL though?

Thing is this season has been one where all the teams (even the Red Mancs) have had bad days at the office

As I see it we'll probably end up as follows (being optimistic)

Swansea A - 0 pts
Everton H - 1 pt
Chelsea A - 0 pts
Man City H - 0 pts
Wigan A - 1 pt
Southampton H - 3 pts
Stoke A - 1 pt
Sunderland H - 3 pts

that's 9 more points, and fingers crossed that will be enough to get us 5th and back in Europe next season (a tall task, in our form at present even Pool could overtake us), but CL not a frickin hope I'm afraid

I know life as a spur is full of gut retching disappointment but **** me you have this glass half empty thing off to a tee <laugh>
