Virtually every weekend, at least two of the teams above us are playing each other, which is points dropped. West Ham do this on 4 occasions, and they are already wobbling, surely not? Middlesbrough also do this on four occasions. (Both West Ham and Boro have one each against us). Birmingham play 4 (including todays draw with Cardiff) and Brighton have to play 4 of the other contenders! Our next eight games are certainly (on paper) easier than the last eight we have just played - although we play most of those in the relegation scrap which will leave them fighting for points. Watford seem to have a hard run, they nearly play one of the top 9 every week. Adam Pearson said before this weeks two games, that 14 points would see us into the play-offs at the end of the season - thats a 72 total. Seeing that alot of the teams play each other, that seems a fair reflection, but I suspect 72 points could be the team in 6th. Where are the play-off places going to be won and lost?
We have a decent run in, but we need to make it count and start converting our chances and posing more of a threat to teams!
We don't have enough in our locker, we don't score enough, Koren is out, our unbeaten sequence of 11 games only saw a 2/3 wins, the rest draws, if we continued that form between now and the end of the season, i don't see us having enough points. Too many dropped points.
I wouldn't rule out any of the three or four teams below you to take advantage either. Two wins on the spin makes one hell of a difference.
good post Cortez, puts things into perspective a bit. we've still got a very good chance of making the playoff's. i really feel barmby has to go ALL OUT to try and win as many games as possible. forget your "fluid" football nick, forget your great defense and forget your triangles. there's really nothing to lose at this stage, everything to gain though...
So - applying your logic - what the **** difference does that make to the run-in? When does/did the run-in start?
Just before 4pm this afternoon, when this thread started. But regarding quotes - numbnuts - for some reason the old iPod touch doesn't seem to like boxing it in.......
Not at all (see Saturdays response).....
Unbelievable!!! How does a side concede 7 goals at home?? Truly embarrasing.
Unbelievable!!! How does a side concede 7 goals at home?? Truly embarrasing.
Beats me to be honest. But either side of that we keep a clean sheet at Millwall, and keep West Ham out until the 91st minute. Our week has probably been a complete reflection on how this entire league has gone this season.
Gotta agree with the vermin lad here It's very topsy turvy There are 3 playoff places up for grabs- impossible to predict as not one single team in the playoff race is playing consistently well
The fact we have just lost two in a row, and only fell 2 points away is remarkable. Playing two of the bottom sides in the next two games could give us 6 points - these two teams do leak goals. With those 6 points, it would probably take three consecutive losses to fall back out the play-offs with the amount of teams playing each other. It seems if you grab three points over one weekend to move into the top 6, it takes two or three more games to fall back out the play-offs until somebody garners some form.
