Gillingham 76 points Rotherham (h) Torquay (h) Cheltenham (a) Wimbledon (h) Burton (a) Port Vale 70 points Burton (h) Aldershot (h) Rochdale (a) Northampton (h) Wycombe (a) Northampton 68 Points Cheltenham (a) Bradford (a) York (h) Wycombe (a) Port Vale (a) Burton 66 points Accrington (a) Port Vale (a) Wycombe (h) Plymouth (h) Bradford (a) Gills (h) Rotherham 64 points Gills (a) Morcambe (a) Fleetwood (h) Bradford (a) Plymouth (a) Aldershot (h) As I see it we should be able to win the title with 'just' 2 home wins & a draw. It really doesn't matter if we lose the two away games. The permuatation of results, I respectfully submit, will not allow for the maximum number of points that each team can achieve, especially as there are a number of clashes between the sides - where somebody must drop points. For what it's worth I reckon it will be Gills top (83-85), second will be Port Vale (82) then either Burton (78), Northampton (77) Rotherham (76) - or a slightly different order between the teams below Vale. I shall tempt fate ( you know I'm alwaysright ) edit - I have deliberately ommitted Cheltenham - not worth bothering about ( will end up with 72 )
You've forgotten - Northampton v Barnet (h) Port Vale v Chesterfield (h) Rotherham v Exeter (h) Agree with your likely outcome. Although it never works out as seems likely does it? So long as we're in the top 3, and hopefully in the top 1...
Three points against Rotherham will practically close the door on the others, then we can play for the title... please log in to view this image
I am feeling really edgy about tomorrow's match, really don't want fatty Evans lot halting our progress. A defeat tomorrow will really get the alarm bells ringing!!!
the match tomorrow will i fill be very important in that if Gills win they should go up as champs, a draw and we will go up but not sure if we will end up top and defeat could mean only the play offs.
Probably what I should have completed in the table above is the goal difference for each team. If you look at our mathematical nearest rivals in the playoffs Rotherham, even if we lost two games Rotherham would still struggle to overtake us with our 19 goal difference, which in itself is an additional point.
Relax gio. Defeat would only delay the inevitable. We are already on 76 points (+gd = 77) and I still doubt 3 other teams will get even that many. Regardless, 1 or 2 more wins in our other 4 games would see us up anyway. Enjoy the next month
brb A lovely, colourful chart - better than my effort. I wanted to make it clear * to all that, due to the clashes between the top sides, it is not possible for all to achieve their maximum points - as per your details - so I think it will be fewer rather than more points that will see us champions -in fact it is possible for us to lose all our remaining games and still end up top. * I know you haven't highlighted Bradford as one of the 'top' sides - but 3 of those 'top' sides have to visit Valley Parade - where Bradford don't let in many goals - a point, let alone 3 would be a good result for any of them. ps Burton to end up 6th !!!! Has Mrs brb seen that ?
Two questions to Mrs brb, have you seen where Burton are in the table and did you happen to see their result the other day? The response: 'No', 'No'
Unless I am overlooking something, technically speaking at this moment in time we require seven points to be Champions and a better GD, as Port Vale can still achieve a possible 86 points.
Wow. Defeat would have meant the play offs (your earlier post) yet a win means we are champions. This realy was a game of world cup final proportions!!!
BelfastBlue - don't take the P.......gioblues is having a little bit of trouble with numbers today ( see 10,097 thread )
yes i am much happier as a defeat could have left as open to the other teams closing the gap but because we won and none of the others did i am so relieved.
