I ordered something online which dispatched nearly a week ago, contacted the seller to tell him it hadnt arrived. He contacted Royal mail and they told him no one was in so they left a card. I dont know if I was in or not but no card was left. So I called them, was on hold for 25 minutes listening to music obviously designed to make you put the phone down. Finally Lucy answers. I quote the tracking number, my name and address, and explain I can pick it up in the morning, with my driving license as ID, have you got the card, no card was left, well you cant collect it without the card??????? WTAF. I then had to suggest it being redelivered, she didnt, yes we cant do that until Thursday now, what an absolute pile of ****, not blaming her, as its probably a rule made up by some dick who doesnt have a clue, it really boiled my piss!
From my experience they are not as bad as Evri / Hermes. In fact Royal Mail online 24/48 tracked services are excellent, they even collect parcels at the door, print a label for you and so far all my parcels have arrived at their destination on time and fully tracked. However with Evri - I've got a tracking number from the sender but it's useless Well if you've got it, why the fcuk don't you deliver it I've been waiting nearly 4 weeks now
Privatisation. Why spend money on the service you're meant to provide when you can pocket the cash instead
TBH the seller said he had never before had an issue with Royal Mail, my frustration was, I had the tracking number, its my address, I had photo ID, but they wouldnt let me have it as I didnt have the card, that they didnt leave! I thought they used to try and redeliver anyhow? Maybe that has changed
Got to speak as you find here but we've lived in 3 villages in a ten mile radius since moving here in the late 90s. We've had many different postman and all have been excellent, leaving parcels in the greenhouse without being asked, just one example. Our current postie is like an old friend, we chat when he has the time and we give him a Xmas gift each year. As for Hermes we've got another gem there, a young lad whose being doing it for years, he even brought us a parcel with our old address on shortly after we moved here which was wrongly addressed by the sender. He's just got married and we gave him and his fiance who fills in for him at times a wedding present. Perhaps it's country living or we've just been lucky but can't fault the service we're getting.
My regular postie has a season ticket, he is a good lad, never had a problem with postmen, its what I was told on the phone yesterday didnt make any sense at all. But she was very eager to raise a complaint as a card wasnt left, even when I said I am not raising a complaint
only thing here is they never last long, not sure if they all get sick of the job or just keep being moved around to other routes, one or two 'instantly' recognised the habits of the street ie: who is usually in at what times of day etc and who is normally in to take parcels in (usually me) and every one has been friendly and happy to have a chat. the rules regarding collection are a bit strong mind but if it ensures that the parcel goes to the right person then all is good...but they really should have a 'fall back' in cases such as this.
I used to work delivering the post many moons ago and know the PO are paid handsomely for delivering this junk mail.
I also had the misfortune to work for them over one xmas period, management are a joke. Tried to put me on a new route in a place I didnt know. So instead of someone walking the route with me the first time, one of the managers in pencil on a scrap of paper drew the route, I asked him was he taking the piss. Someone walked the route with me the first time.
Only thing that I find annoying about the postie is he won't use my doorbell, he'll knock and then just leave straight away without staying to see if he gets an answer which is usually the case as we're both at work. If he used the doorbell I could tell him where to leave it as we have a safe spot.
The new postie must be visually impaired as we have a huge postbox next to the front door, but he still uses the letterbox, which one of my dog really appreciates as free chew toys keep coming in
Our lass has a problem with the post office on Ethel terrace in castletown, (if you can call it a post office) she's posted 3 letters on different occasions to Germany and not one has arrived she now goes to the post box beside the sorting office on the riverside to post them and they get there no problems
There was a time years ago that there seemed to be different posties every few months. All foreign and letters getting delivered for random other fookin streets to my address. Not even the same numbers or village at times ffs . And not only happening to me. Had the same postie last few year and he's spot on. Delivers parcels then comes back later with letters lol. He's even returned later the same day, after no reply first time, with a parcel that needed a signature. Evri/Hermes are wánk .
A mate of mine piles them all up and then reposts them . I started doing it but can't be arsed anymore.
I liked the sound of that but then realised its the poor postie that will have to sort them, if you could find the address of one of their managers and just hoy them all through their letterbox, that would be good
Aye, I thought of the postie. We do get very little now compared to the flyer heydays If everyone did it they'd soon stop mind
