My old dad would tell you He´s 90, (take a ), That football in his hey-day Was much better than now, For years and years I listened Not believing a word, But more and more I wonder If it is that absurd, Edward-Couzens-Lake Reflecting here today, Reminded me of some things My old dad *used to say,....................*and still does Back then, pioneering In footballs´early plays, One system only, mattered Scoring more on the days, 2-3-5 were the numbers From defence to attack, Naive in today´s climate But shots they didn´t lack, And from there we´ve developed Or regressed, some might add, Through many different numbers Far gone from what they had, Many have been complaining Since Hughton C arrived, How negative his plans are Just hoping to survive, But everywhere you look now Not losing is the key, Winning is just a bonus Sad, but reality, So what has caused this turn-round To 180 degrees, My own opinion is that It´s that old £-s-d, With mill-mill-mill-mill-millions At stake, for teams to muse, They fear for their place, so they Don´t attack lest they lose, Yes that is broadly speaking But fear does play a part, Not just for NCFC But for all of those who start, And I see no solution While money is the force, That drives our football forward On its uncertain course. OTBC The Ed Couzens article is here, for any who are interested, http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...-days-of-macdougal-and-boyer-holt-and-martin/
Well as regards the thread, I can´t think Hughton has got anything to lose, apart from his job of course, but he might lose that anyway, so he may as well go out fighting, and I´d love to see a 2-3-5 on Saturday, it would certainly give old (4-6-0) Sam a heart attack, and might give the assembled media vultures, waiting for his demise a surprise too.
Hi RBF bor, didn't the Gunners pre-war win renown for playing defensively ? Football has evolved to the point that soon it will be for a goalie and two backs to occupy the goal and the rest of the team fail to cross the halfway line. Regards to the King of Denmark. PS. Re CH, it is in his hands whether he stays or go, if we can beat a goal scoring machine like Saints then we should accommodate WHU. If not, God help him.
Quite probably NORKIE, if anyone, it probably would be them, but that was just a tiny bit before my time, have to ask my dad . I shall have everything crossed that can be crossed this weekend, in the hope that Hughton can stave off the executioner, as I´m far from convinced that to change the pilot at this stage of the season, especially with those names being mentioned, will bring any change in our fortunes.
