Uefa are the governing body which oversees all football associations affiliated to them including the SFA/SPL. They sanction the club licensing for the SPL. Uefa are strongly committed to maintaining and advancing the integrity of football throughout Europe. They have already intervened in the case of Sion when the Swiss FA were ready to drop the points penalty on the club for fielding inelligible players. The Swiss FA had to do an about turn when Uefa informed them of their policy on licensing clubs and national associations. The debate went so far as a veiled threat, if the Swiss FA did not comply, that international and european club competition bans would follow. The Swiss FA have now led the way in that 4 of their top clubs, major players in Swiss football have been denied licenses for the Super League. If the SPL grant a license to a Newco with the tax debts and football debts rfc have then I am convinced that Uefa will tell them to withdraw said license or face massive sanctions. Uefa represent and stand up for the integrity of football in Europe. To permit a Newco to simply walk back into a top national league on the grounds that the member clubs would suffer financially without their presence or that a TV deal with Sky would be endangered(not convinced this is actually true-no rfc simply show every Celtic away game to compensate) means that every league in Europe could do exactly the same on the grounds of precedence. Where would this leave the integrity of European football let alone Scottish football. This would be especially dangerous for Uefa to allow, if evasion or avoidance of tax was involved with other clubs in other leagues, since the EU could perceive football as a tax evading entity which the governing body(Uefa) was condoning or at least turning a blind eye to simply to permit its member tax evading clubs to survive or revive. I seriously doubt that a license will be granted or at least if it is, Uefa will step in preventing it, thus letting the SFA and SPL off the hook. These two bodies can then shrug their shoulders to rfc Old/Newco fans and say ..........it is out of our hands. If rfc lose the BTC then Uefa would have to withdraw the clubs license, assuming that HMRC do not follow the assets as per the new legislation and simply wind down the whole sad sorry lot and auction the assets. One proviso on all this......................................does a Newco get off the ground or is it asset stripped in its embryonic state by forces yet unknown but lurking in the shadows. HMRC then chases them. One advantage HMRC has.................Ibrox and MP cannot be moved lock stalk and barrell to the Virgin Islands.
