    I remember back in the days of 'bbc606' the author of an article could delete sick, abusive & rasist comments if he wished. I would like the same rights here on 'not606'.

    Do any of LCFC´s mods have any info on why we can´t or if we could ?

    There was some terrible things wrote on our board yesterday that should be removed but all I can see that happens is (a. the thread is locked, but still available to view or (b. the idiot gets band, which is ok by me. I would really like to have the power to delete

    Unfortunately that would defeat the object of any football debating platform - each author would then be able to delete any comment of any nature and we would then have a highly sanitised monologue with certain individuals deleting any posts that either disagreed with their opinions or, more importantly, actually showed up the original post for being absurd, irrelevant, or just wrong. Careful what you wish for ...

    So ´bbc606´ defeated the object ? I thought the object is to talk football. I thought it was a good idea when you had someone saying bad things about peoples family members or handicapped persons just to click on DELETE. I can handle the 'FOOTBALL BANTER' even personal name calling, I´m thicked skined, but some people do take things far too far sometimes.

    Nothing wrong about being bullish about your team - by nature nearly evey football fan is over optimistic - more in hope than expectation - but we have to stand up and be counted for the comments we have made - some have been more vociferous than others but come the judgement day (which is still a long way off - after the play-off final) our reaction will be somewhere bewtween triumphant or humbled - as long as we are prepared to deal with that like adults then fair enough - you won't find me crying.

    Indeed a word of advice for many of my compatriots in the form of a verse from my favourite poem - If - by Kipling - in fact it's so damn fine I'll reproduce the whole thing!

    "If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;

    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;

    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;

    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    'Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
    if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;

    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

    If you recall, many people were thoroughly disillusioned (that's me being polite) by the inconsistency and lack of objectivity of the BBC 606 moderators who, on occasion, were so PC that they were removing posts indiscriminantly, sometimes without any evidence of having read them at all, let alone in context. I don't like censorship - I simply refuse to be drawn by or give credence to posts that I feel are inappropriate - banning or deleting tends to do the opposite - in my humble opinion of course.

    I´m talking about the 'author' having the right to delete a post not mods deleting willy nilly. On bbc606 they just did it to **** people about more often than not. If I do an article on football & someone slags my mum off or post pics of people in wheelchairs or naked I would like the right to **** it off like you could on bbc606. Somethings on not606 are simply not.

    If that's what you want - but you run the risk of losing a good thread merely because some clown knows how to press your buttons ...

    Every forum has rules and not 606 is no different in this regard - Minor rule breaking here is pretty much overlooked, but more serous breaches are not just ignored, however the offender always receives warnings, I cannot think of one occasion where a ban has been imposed without a warning, including our very own AKCJ on the Hull forum - In my opinion, this is a healthy balance between the overtly zealous BBC and the free for all advocated by FosseFilberto

    No - it's definitely If- although When would almost work too

    Maybe, but as I doubt your ability to look into the future I might suggest you wait and see rather than make such an arrogant suggestion :rolleyes:
