our fans keep going on about the midfield but i feel we need to sign a right-back, i know Smalling and Jones can play there but they're central defenders.
At least we have a quality right back for the big games though - Rafael. And we have back up in case he is unavailable or needs to be subbed: if we are chasing the game - Valencia and if we need a defensive right back - Smalling. I don't like Jones there personally... Our problem is that we don't have a really really good central midfielder that can boss the big games. We have good midfielders who can do well most of the time, but we need someone for the big matches. Personally I'm not too worried about squad depth at the moment, our strength in that department is evident in our brilliant league performances over the course of the season. It's in the big one-off games like the knockout rounds vs Real Madrid and the FA Cup Quarter final against Chelsea that an additional top quality player would have made a difference, rather than an additional back-up player in the squad. My opinion, many others will disagree...
That Rafael must be the most improved player this season, as much as I hate to say it he looks a very good player now.
I agree. I had my doubts over him before about whether or not he'd actually be good enough for United. However, I think he's been the best right back in the league this year.
I still think it's a left back we need, not a right back. Jones and Smalling are indeed centre halves but provide good cover at right back, we don't really have that at left back as Buttner remains very much unproven and Evra will be one year older again. He's had a good season this one though so should be ok for another at least. Even so, he won't last for ever and the three at right back are all young.
I reckon that now the title is pretty much a certainty for ManU, Ferguson will be playing Buttner a lot more, he already played him in the last two premier league games. Twice it was a clean sheet if I recall correctly. Just give Buttner a real chance first before buying a new RB is what I would suggest.
we don't need a new RB.. Rafeal is awesome .. may be our best players this season .. jones and smalling can work better facing sides who play high balls ... and will give enough time for them to play and develop .. so it is NO NO NO for me i rather we sign a creative CM who is not pushed easily like kagawa
